SI Group plans emergency response drill at Rotterdam Junction site
by Eric Anderson, Deputy business editor

The emergency drill will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at the chemical company’s Rotterdam Junction plant, and will involve SI Group’s own emergency response team, the Schenectady County Hazardous Materials Response Team, the Rotterdam Junction and Pattersonville fire departments, the State Emergency Management Office, the Rotterdam Police, and Access Medical, which provides on-site medical services to the SI Group.

The company said the drill is part of its efforts to keep the local community safe in the event of an incident at the plant. The drill will be closed to the public.

SI Group, formerly Schenectady International, and before that, Schenectady Varnish, was founded in 1906 and is headquartered in Niskayuna. It produces resins and chemical intermediates. The privately held company operates 20 plants in 13 countries.
