I don't understand why the Schenectady Democrats would even have concern with the power struggle within Conservative Party. A party with less than 3000 registered voters in the County.
Make no mistake, the Conservative as well as the Independence endorsements are VERY important to any candidate running for office. I receive more votes on the each line than there are registered voters in each party respectively. I attribute this to a couple of things. First I think dems who can't bring themselves to vote for me on the Rep line will vote for me on the Cons. or Ind. line. I also consider myself very conservative and should by virtue of that trait receive the endorsement and therefore votes on that line. Most people know of my conservative fiscal nature and have no problem voting for me there. As an aside I can't tell you how much I appreciate the endorsement from each of the parties. They are frequently called minor parties, but in my book they are every bit as important as the Repbulican line to me.
I certainly appears that Lamendola is in bed with someone from the dem party. I mean look at what he did with Ms.Rhinesmith's press release. And the gazette has such a hold on the people that even if you write your own editorial for publication, they either edit it or throw it out!!!
This last article regarding Buchannan and Tedisco is just plain nonsense!! And they wonder why 'new' people won't get involved in politics.

I am a conservative republican - always have been, always will be.
The "politics" of the whole process really leaves a bad taste in my mouth and a desire to dis-affiliate myself with any formal party.
At least you didn't call me a liberal
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/liberal I wouldn't be so upset if someone called me a liberal...I mean really, look at it this way. Even though some people nowadays have given liberalism a bad name, it was the Founding Fathers of this country were actually considered liberals. It's just that nowadays, the Dems have given Liberals a bad name.

When the same candidate appears on the republican line AND the conservative line, I always pull the conservative lever instead of the republican - just to make a statement. Of course, if there was still a "Right to Life" line in this county, I'd probably pull that one first - but the RTL party is so damn weak here they can't even stand up for themselves.
That is the point here....the dems AND the reps have to go back to their roots just like the conservs are trying to do. The dems have done some good things historically. (I can't think of anything right now, but I'm sure they have. ) And the same goes for the reps. It has gotten so out of control that they all think and act the same. INCLUDING the Independence and Working Family Party!!!
Plus ya got reps endorsing dems and conservs endorsing dems....I mean really!

Make no mistake the conservatives could be played like a well tuned cello......either party thinks they are up for grabs......This is where the conservatives will lead like the head of a snake......either party must follow the conservative path.....however, the conservatives must be looking out for the fans that make flame under other party-namesakes....they could be fanned by the opposition(whatever party that may be)......
both the Dems and the Reps are vying for being atleast backseat drivers positions since alot of folks are disillusioned and without true shepherds of the old school parties......
change is a-commin'.......although, even if we change the names of the partys and give different cliches as slogans people still are what people are....but, fresh is fresh....we just need to learn when to get rid of stale(not necessarily old/wise)......

Candidates need to stop worrying about their party affiliation and concern themselves with the business of representing their constituents. I never even realized what the platform of any of the parties was or what it meant until a couple of years ago, I am often still confused by it all. It would appear that I do not agree with interference of government in every aspect of our lives and that seems to align well with the Rep party. People need to take care of themselves, not continually look to government to solve their woes. Incidentally, those who beg for intervention are the same people that just a few months later will cry that government interferes too much. It seems maybe the people in Albany are finally getting it.....they are holding street walks etc. to help their neighborhoods. I hope they now realize the change they need has to come from within them, not from government. They need to be interactive with the police. They have the power.Instead of saying I didn't see a thing, they need to start pointing fingers.

Although I agree with you in theory, party affiliation is what are government is based on. All political parties have their own opposite ideology which is actually a healthy political system. It is clearly superior to a socialist, communist, one party government.
What is unhealthy and appears to undermine our great political system, is the negative campaigning, politcal mudslinging, back room deals, self serving, power and greed that has become part of our current government system. Our government officials have become an entity all of its own. Everything is about THEM and how decisions will benefit THEIR POLITICAL CAREERS/AGENDAS AND THEIR PARTY AFFILIATION. It clearly is no longer a government that governs the 'people' regarding the 'people's' best interest.
When these politicians dip into our pockets to finance a park or convention center or building only to name it after themselves tells ya a lot, don't ya all think?

I agree with what you say, but think about what generates the self serving interests of politicians. Power. The enabler of that power is knowing you have the majority vote. Having the majority vote relies on making your party stronger and towing the party line regardless of right or wrong, good or evil. For example, knowing many of the county legislators republican and democrat they can't ALL possibly agree on the creation of this communication director position during these troubled times, but with the exception of Vince Dicerbo and the Rep minority no one has come out against the majority. That tells me either they agree with this silly expenditure or they are afraid to go agiainst their party leaders. If its the former, I have given them way too much credit for their intelligence. If it's the latter then that explains why true governing FOR the people is down the toilet. Take a look at the Kosiur incident.....He is making 80k a year and basking in the sun at Central Park while Joe Ryan busts his butt taking care of more details in one day then Kosiur does in a year. When the rain storm hit a couple weeks ago, Joe was on vacation with his family at the Cape.......he came home. You can bet Kosiur won't have to cut his vacations short because of an emergency in the youth program dept. I'm not sure, but I don't think Ryan makes near what Kosiur does, again we all know that was a PARTY gratuity to Kosiur. I may not be making myself clear on this since I have a difficult time putting it into words, but it certainly seems to me that way too often being in lock step with the party is more important than the people.
The 'parties' hopefully are what keep our country away from the likes of Hitler.....however, the 'parties' fail to impart the need of Americans to stay as pioneering Americans.....always 'giving' crap away as crumbs to get the votes.....dont make promises make outlines and roadmaps......and dont forget to show the public how you know how to use a 'fishing pole'...... and stop taking fish that doesn't belong to you.......

There are many conservative Republicans and conservative Democrats that are sick to death with what's happened to their parties and are sick of both parties tax and spend policies and would welcome a true conservative to vote for.
Right On! There is no Right To Life Party in NYS anymore. The only way things can change in this Socialistic, Tax and Spend County is for real Conservatives to stand up, run and primary in ALL parties. Rene, Joe and Angelo are some of the few elected Conservatives and they more support. Everything positive here comes from the ground up-not the top down.

I couldn't agree with you more. But when we have a county that has many residents benefiting from the democratic dictatorship's government programs, it will be a task. Not to mention all of the people who hold the many patronage jobs. BUT...it can be done. We need to rally the troops!
