Nickel, you can be sure that BOTH major parties will be watching. One no better or no different than the other in this  situation. If it wasn't so pathetic....it would almost be funny.

If the reps are 'papering' the area for the reformed conservs, than you can bet the dems are 'papering' the area (or doing something)for the present conservs.

Now in theory and historically...it would not be unusual for the reps to help the conservs as their ideology is almost mirrored. It would be very unusual and even questionable to have the dems help the conservs. They are at two different ends of the spectrum. The dems are more in line with the working family party.

But ya know....in todays political climate....who can ever tell the difference anymore? I think they are ALL 'cross dressers'. All in the name of 'power and political agendas' and very little about 'us the taxpayers'!!

Bumblethru:

Now all of a sudden it's about taxpayers.  When its your agenda being advanced, screw the taxpayers...

I would guess that when the Conservatives saw Tedisco and Buchanan and Tedisco's staff (which includes mertz and buchanan) spending tens of thousands of dollars in an attempt to
hijack the Conservative Party  the true Conservatives that control the party decided to work hard and send a message to a guy who thinks he's the most powerful Republican in the
state.  Guess what-........The local Conservative Party kicked the snot out of the State Republican Party.  Bad move Jimmy.  You listened to Buchanan, Santabarbara and a few others
in Rotterdam who gave you some bad info.    Jimmy, your $20,000 or $25,000 spent on mailers and attorneys fees and staffers going door to door failed miserably.  I told you that hitching your wagon to Gadfly would be a mistake.  Those of you who ignored PAPA were not very wise.   PAPA is very disappointed in you.

I don't think anyone was joining 'kelly's party'...collectively they were trying to reform the 'conservative party.' And the conservative party IS all about the taxpayers. The conservative ideology from what I know (cause I'm not a registered conserv) is smaller governement and less taxes.

I think the Conservatives owe Tedisco, Rhinesmith, Santabarbara and friends  a debt of gratitude for educating them on how filthy the Republicans really can be.  I think that if it wasn't for a few technicalities with petitions- it would have almost been a shutout.  Next time, we will be prepared that much better.

They are ALL the same papa.  It doesn't matter! NYS has had dems AND reps in power and it is still obviously the highest taxed state in the country. Public sector jobs outweigh private sector jobs. When are you gonna get that?

Bush is president. People were tired of his (R) politics so the people voted in a democratic congress. So ok...what good did that do? None! Wake up and smell the coffee papa.

It is all about greed, power and position!

WELL WELL WELLLLLLLLLLL.........as Salvatore has been lecturing my good friends over here about throwing your horse on the back of Kelly Rinestone's broken wagon, you have all failed worse than Sarah P FAILIN who is also dragging the repubs down the pichaloo. I was proad to cast the vote for my freinds in blue today to preserve the right od the TRUE conservs and keep the troublemakers out. I want you to know that the repubs need to reform themselves and as far as I am concerned there is only one real conserv repub LEFT HERE IN THIS TOWN MR ANGELO SANTABARBARA INDEED. So there miss Rhinestone go teach your granny to suck eggs. and YES you should have listened to Papa and Salvatore too

Sal:

Let's not forget that your pal Angelo hitched his wagon to the Rhinesmith train. His recorded phone calls, going door to door and support of the trashing of the union head of the men
in blue will never be forgotten.  If he wasn't smart enough to stay away from that train wreck, like a few Republicans in the county were- then he is way out of touch with reality.

I wish to congratulate Randy Pascarella and Bob Hamilton for the victories of their endorsed candidates.  I hope that they will be as gracious in victory as I am in defeat.  In a democracy, there are winners and losers in political races.  The actions of each during and after the races speaks to their integrity and character.

Yes, I lost my (Rotterdam Election District 18 ) race for the Conservative committee.  My intentions were sincere, but the voters did not support my cause.  I thank those who supported my candidacy and congratulate those who chose to support my opponents.  Though defeated in this endeavor, I will continue to promote conservative principles and fight for transparency in government and accountability of our government to the public.  Our country and its people deserve nothing less.

SCHENECTADY COUNTY
Conservatives keep status quo
Current leadership survives challenge from faction

BY MICHAEL GOOT Gazette Reporter
Reach Gazette reporter Michael Goot at 395-3123 or mgoot@dailygazette.net.

The current leadership of the Conservative Party will stay the same after maintaining control of committee seats in Tuesday’s primary election.
“It’s a done deal,” said Chairman Randy Pascarella after the votes were counted.
Longtime political activist and Conservative Kelly Rhinesmith sought to wrest control of the committee from Pascarella. Her faction, which called itself reformers, claimed that the Conservative Party is being run by Democrats and labor unions. It filed designating petitions for committee seats in 126 out of 128 total election districts. One of the districts has no enrolled Conservatives. Each district has two representative seats. The Conservatives already had candidates for 52 uncontested seats going into Tuesday’s primary.
Unofficial returns show that the candidates supported by Pascarella won at least 110 seats. Rhinesmith and her supporters won at least 40.
However, in some districts the vote total was split between the two groups. In some districts there were ties with each of four candidates receiving one vote apiece and some districts had no one voting on the Conservative line. However, Pascarella said that in the event of ties or no one casting ballots, the current committee gets to appoint for the seat.
Pascarella said by telephone he was very pleased watching the results come in.
“We crushed in our backyard, obviously,” he said.
Support for his wing of the party was very strong in Rotterdam and Schenectady. Rhinesmith’s support was very strong in Glenville, where the faction split the districts.
He said a lot of “Republican trash politics” got brought into the Conservative Party by accusing them of being controlled by the Democrats and by union bosses, but voters saw through that.
“It comes down to the real Conservatives not dealing with the trash. They’re not stupid. People know what’s going on,” he said.
Rhinesmith did not return a message left for comment.
In the race for the Scotia Village Trustee seat, Andrew Kohout received eight votes on the Conservative line and Martin S. Finn received 139 votes on the line.
