I still can't understand why the Schenectady County Conservative Party would donate $325 to the Schenectady County Democratic Committee on October 22, 2007.http://www.elections.state.ny......p_transaction_code=B

I think that is the dirty little secret that current party leaders are trying to hide.

Cicero,

There is more evidence of the collusion that has been occurring during the past many years between the Democratic party and the special interest (union) groups that presently control the Conservative party.  You have cited only one example.

Let us begin with the endorsements for Schenectady County Legislature that have been awarded by this group during just the past ~year.

Bob Godlewski (Democrat) was endorsed for District IV.
Tony Jasenski (Democrat) was endorsed for District IV.
Marty Finn (Democrat) was endorsed for District III.

Those who did not receive the endorsement include Carolina Lazzari (Republican), Angelo Santabarbara (Republican), and Tim McFarland (Republican).

When we succeed in our quest, this pattern will end.  If I am elected to the party committee and have any role in determining who receives the Conservative party endorsements, my support will be for CONSERVATIVES.

For now, there is much work to be done.  I will be focusing on the campaign, informing true Conservatives in my party of the important choice that they will be asked to make.  Based on my conversations with many to date, I am encouraged that we will emerge with the majority control in the party.

I am aware of the endorsements that were given to democrats in the last election.  But papa and captain claim that the Schenectady County Conservative Party also endorses Republican candidates.  And they may very well have done so.  What I don't understand is. Why would you fund the Schenectady County Democratic Committee, which would be in essence funding the Democrat opponents running against the Republicans they endorsed.  Just doesn't make sense.

Lets start with you telling the truth and we will go from there.

Is everyone else as confused as I am about the "players" here?

Does anyone know who "Captain America", "Gadfly" "Cicero" etc are?  I sure don't.
I can PRESUME Gadfly is Kelly R?

The only one I know for certain is Brad Littlefield - he has the balls/courage to use his real name and discuss this as an adult.  The other "players" are hiding behind anonymous names that give ZERO credibility to what they ask for or what they say.

Captain - you asked for Gadfly to "tell the truth" - why don't you stand up as an adult and do the same - who are you and what part are you playing in this game?

You would be correct to do so Mobile. I'm sorry-I thought everyone knew this.
OK - your turn Captain!

I'm just providing commentary from my perspective.  I don't have a horse in the race.  I'm just voicing my opinion,  based on what I hear going on in local politics.  I'm a registered Independent with a traditional conservative ideology.  If my alias makes my statements less credible, so be it.

All this time I thought Mobile Terminal was an alias.  It must have been difficult growing up with such a unique name.  Is Mobile your first name and Terminal your last name?  There's only so many occupations you can have with a name like that.

I am supportive of people who choose to be anonymous. It then becomes easier to discuss the issues without it becoming personal. However, if people choose to post under their real name, they are clearly aware that they 'may' experience a discussion that can become personal. In either case it is just a personal choice. It doesn't matter to me one way or the other.

There may also be repercussions from political officials as well.

I'm talking about the players in this political "game" - not everyday schmoes who, as you call it, don't have a horse in this game.

If politicians, whether dem or rep, have little effect on the outcome of a police contract....then what was all of the black tee-shirt hub bub about when there was a police commission proposed in Rotterdam? From what you are saying, a police commission would have had little effect on a contractual police department.

I am not a lawyer, but I would presume that with or without a Police Commission in place in Rotterdam, the 5 Town Board members would be the ones voting on a contract for union members.  I assume from your comments that it is your opinion that forming a Police Commission would somehow change the benefits in a contract or that a commission would have more leverage to change it.  Perhaps you are suggesting that the cops were opposed to the Commission because they were afraid that their contractual benefits would be diminished.  If I remember correctly, the true purpose of the Police Commission was revealed shortly after its formation and when the board unanimously agreed- just months after it was created- it was abolished...  I dont think the cops were opposed to a commission because of the effect on a contract because as I said- Board members are elected to decide that.  I think they were probably concerned that the formation would politicize the department and I think the Commission did just that, if I recall correctly.

Again, yes, a police commission- whether its made up of democrats, republicans or any other party- would, in my opinion, have no effect on a contract.  I think one of the reasons given to start the police commission was to reduce pension benefits after a cop made a lot of $ his last year and he had a big pension.  It has been a couple of years now since that was made an issue.  I'm sure nothing has changed.
That was just one of the reasons given to try to justify forming a commission- obviously if it was a legitimate reason- that issue would have been addressed.

well after setting back awhile here for the past 2 or 4 days and trying to sort out this controversy I sm still confused. And I dont think our town nees this kind of controversy now just like it didnt need the policemans commision last year which made me temporarily upset with Johnny Mertz. However indeed, I still like the men in blue having a say since they are my friends but I wish they would make the apserisons toward my friend  Angelo S. who is my favorite elected man

We like the men in blue also, Salvatore...although they may not believe that right now. We will always welcome their input and share their concerns.
Remember, however, that the deal is always sancrosanct. And that deal is that the towns are the trade off under the current (and past) circumstances for control of the COUNTY. It is for this reason the current leadership will NEVER endorse a Republican in the County Legislature races. That is why Angelo, the most conservative candidate in last year's District 4 race, was not endorsed and forced to primary to take his rightful place on the Conservative Party ballot line. We ALWAYS have to do that in county races, among others, and that should not happen.
And by the way, Angelo is quickly becoming everybody's favorite elected man.

Sal my dear poster....I can't help but believe that you know full well that this has nothing to do with law enforcement. You have made many statements regarding Santabarbara. So you know EXACTLY what the conservs are trying to accomplish here. You are either a dem worried about getting the conserv line or a rep just playing dumb and trying to stir the pot. And again....I believe the latter of the two.
