I think the idea of a town newsletter is a good one. However, the town has failed in execution. There is no reason it shouldn't/couldn't be delivered a multitude of ways, depending on how each resident chose to receive it.
The absence of town news dissemination that I find more disturbing though is the disregard for posting meeting agendas on the town website. The last Planning Commission agenda posted is 6-17-08, which means that the last two meetings, July 1 and July 15 still haven't been posted. The last Town Board meeting agenda posted was 6-25-08, which means the last meeting July 9 never got posted, save the draft copy found not on the events calendar but in the archived list of agendas.
I try to go to as many town meetings that I can regardless, but I'm a busy man and I like to know in advance if my presence is absolutely necessary. It's not difficult or time consuming to upload a file.
I want the 'updates' on everything that is going on in Rotterdam. I don't care if they do it on line or through a newsletter. I think the town should know what is going on with Hamburg Street, Capital Plaza, Masullo, Sunrise, Heldeburg Medows, Rt7 developments, Flying J's, sewers, the town boards proposed raises, the rpd union negotiations, the new police station, the curry rd shopping plaza..etc...The list is endless. A 'one time bomb' get's dropped in the gazette or journal and it seems it gets lost in the abyss and it is never heard of again!!! Sorry, but we need better communication in this town!!!

Hey did everyone get their 'newsletter'? I got mine and so did a few others. I did read where the new comp plan is expected to be completed this year.

I read that too about the Comp Plan. I hope it's true but the newsletter also touts the new water tank for fall construction on SI Group property. As late as Aug 28th, that site had been determined incompatible and the town was considering alternative plans so I'm a bit skeptical.
