Someone told me about this house located on Beverly Street. No one lives there but to the neighbors estimation, the taxes are being paid. The neighbors have called the town several times with complaints, but they tell me that they were told that there is nothing they can do since the taxes are being paid.
The doors are left open and neighbors are concerned of transits making it their home. Or possibly children having access to the home. There is also a hole on the bottom side (basement) of the house where the neighbors have seen animals going in and out. There is a definite stench that comes from the home as well.
The neighbors periodically have to shut the front door as the wind will blow it open.

Call the department of health , the animals might be rats, right? If you don't get help at Schenectady County, Call the State. Let our public leaders know you will be contacting the papers and TV stations , that will get them scurrying. Its BS they can't do anything, its a public health hazard, all those rats!
The neighbors say there are rats there, but I personally haven't seen them. One neighbor said they can hear "animals" fighting at night coming from the house. It is a mess for sure! And it does smell!
The house needs to be cleaned out and kept up and the doors and windows need to be secured even if it no one is actually living there. Don't we have a code enforcer for situations like this?
If the town won't do anything, than I say call the health dept first. Then if nothing, call channel 6, 10 and 13. If the town can go after Marotta, they should be able to do something here too.

Thank you members and lurkers of this message board. Someone who was reading this contacted Steve Tommasone. I received an email from Mr. Tommasone who said that there are several properties in town, most not as bad as this one that are either being monitored, cited or fined. But they will declare an emergency clean up as soon as possible for this one. He said that he would keep me (us) posted on the progress.
So good job residents of Rotterdam and those who aren't and thank you Mr. Tommasone.

So good job "residents of Rotterdam" and thank you Mr. Tommasone.
And that is why Mr Tommasone will continue to be re-elected.
Well, let's at least wait until the place is cleaned out before we start sending out thank you cards.

Another neighbor contacted me and stated that they have been submitting petitions to the town about this situation for about the past three years and nothing was ever done. Hopefully it will be taken care of now.
The house today sure looks different than it did last year when Google StreetView took an image of it. It even looks like it was occupied last year - and had trash out for Accurate Disposal at the time of the picture.
Hey good job guys?/girls? for the in depth info I'm sure they will have to give the owner ample time to clean it up and secure the place. After that, there should be hefty fines imposed since there are new code violation laws in place. It will be interesting to see just how Rotterdam's new code laws will be enforced.

I heard from some of the neighbors today that say there are people from the town there taking pictures. Inside and out. I don't envy these guys. It is a "shake your head and plug your nose" job.
