Is there anybody who can verify or discredit a rumor I heard?  I don't like lending any credence to rumors, but with zero faith in the local news' investigative reporting and lack there of, I have been lowered to this.

I hear that when Mallozzi's restaurant was built in 1984, the first year of the Constantino years, they tied into the sewer lines without being taxed for the service.

They know the dems and that seems to be all that is necessary in Schenectady County. Ya don't wanna pi** one of them off. If this is true, it will be very interesting to see how this will be played out. This is a job for Greg Floyd. Perhaps the Gazette or the TU will investigate.

It is yet amazing, if this is in fact true, how the Constantino years are still effecting Rotterdam today. Every time we hear of a questionable issue in Rotterdam, the name 'Constantino' seems to always be attached to it.

HHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH

Oh my God that's funny.  Thank you for the laugh.  The Gazette doesn't INVESTIGATE anything! They regurgitate what they're fed by the machine, and if you point out that they're wrong (after they have YOU provide proof) - THEN they'll print a "correction" days later, buried on an inside page somewhere where nobody will read it or remember.

Then perhaps we should do our own investigating. Tax records are public, right?

http://www.rotterdamassessments.com/subadd.asp

It's currently assessed at $1,825,000.  I don't know if there is any way to see the initial assessment in 1984, and whether or not they payed to hook into the sewers, or if they even payed the yearly sewer fee's.

True, but we need to find out if Malozzi has actually paid for their hook up to the public sewers. And when they actually connected.

You are treading on dangerous slopes right about people. They have lawyers out there who will send you into foreclosure on your houses when you have to hire the lawyers to get them off of your backs. Besides if you say anything you will offend the gumbas out there and you will be instantaneously anti-Italian. So be careful not to mention Mallozzi in anyway or a lawyer from the county they hire will be sending a letter to you, be assured, and if you don't believe me then read the papers and see what William Sherman and Joe S. are going through, people. The paper said the lawyer bills are over 50,000 dollars for defenses, so think twice what you say, capice? Bobby don't like it when the family crest gets besmirched with mud, they paid good money for that crest.

Are you saying that we should all sit back and just let it be for fear of retaliation. Is this not the US of A??? I thought that this mentality went out with Constantino?

I'm just curious if a restaurant is Rotterdam is hooked up to public sewers, and if it was and is paying it's fair share.  That restaurant could be Applebees, or TGI Friday's.  The restaurant in question just happens to be named after somebody local's last name.  We just had a revaluation in Rotterdam, and for those who remember the political practices between 1984 and 1997, you would know that some people and business's property tax information were left off the appraisal of the property.  Like, if you remodeled your property, or hooked into a sewer line.  Some things were conveniently unreported or overlooked. Depending on your last name and political affiliation.  I'm not suggestion this happened a Mallozzi's restaurant.  But as a taxpaying resident, I find it disturbing that this is even possible.

this is 1984 all over again. People are getting hauled to court and the whole point of it is to keep you from criticizing them or the democrats. If you run your mouth you will find the lawyers fist in it. that is what I am saying. I hear this was tried with Kelly Rinesmith too somehow and Judy D's lawyer Delorenzo sued her on behalf of Paul Brown or someone for slander too. Someone care to fill in the blanks since I dont know them all? But this is becoming the way to keep the critics shut up and the M's have done it in a grand way. Read the papers!

well Cicero, be careful, or be in court. mortgage your house again to pay the lawyer if you have to. I don't matter if you are right or wrong, it matters how much money you got to hire the lawyer, dont you get it yet? M has the $. But I dont think it costs them since from what I heard they have Chris Gardner or some other dem laywer in the pro bono circuit who helps out Dems who want to crush R's.

remember as in the federal level, the dems are using lawyers and judges to accomplish what they couldn't accomplish at the ballots on election day. Gay marriage in California, beat the last few repubs in Schenectady county. Shut up the critics in Rotterdam. You could be that critic if you challenge what they are doing. You could be the next one to have to spend bou cou bucks on Dewwy Cheatam and Howe law firm out of Manhatten to stave off them taking everything ya' got. But what differnce does it make if the judge throws it out since you had to spend 100 large to get it thrown out. Don't you see how it works? Do you have 100 large? I don't.
