No, but it is well known around county circles that you and the town of Duanseburg is on the enemy list. but you shouldn't worry a whole hell of a lot since there are a few hundred people on there above you. You had lots of nerve to be against her sexual offender law that was supposed to make Kosiur the hero and assemblyman. Duanesburg put him down for the count. We all know that much if we follow politics a little only in this town.
René and the residence of Duanesburg is hardly the enemy. They set a wonderful example of what happens when a town pulls together for their cause. It should be an example that should be followed by other towns.

We just completed an engineering study and received an estimate to add on to our woefully inadequate town hall. The cost is approximately 1.2 million. Believe me when I tell you, this is a modest addition. Our highway building is in even worst shape. It is embarassing but at the same time the costs for municipalities to do a project like the police station is huge. (GO UNIONS) I read these threads and agree with most of what is said but implementing these ideas will cost taxpayers. I can feel the Rotterdam Town Boards pain. Sewers, drainage, rebuild of town buildings, all needs to be done. The cost of not doing these things.......usually larger. As an elected official I can tell you how agonizing it is to KNOW what needs to be done, but when it comes down to it no one wants to pay for it. People in Mariaville desperately wanted sewers....we did it and it was nothing more than a nightmare. We spent hundreds of thousands extra in legal fees and easement costs because people would not provide the town an easement to lay the mains. The residents in our other district provided the easements without cost.
I guess the point I was trying to make is that our taxes are high and we don't seem to get anything for them. In any case, let's assume the Town is my house. Both of us are faced with all the other factors affecting our available cash flow or disposable income for necessary things. For instance, as a homeowner I can't ignore a problem with my foundation. I HAVE to sink the money in to fix it. Where I get it is my problem. Likewise, infrastructure (roads, etc) are the Town's foundation. They have to properly maintain them like it or not. As a homeowner, if my roof is failing I've got to fix it immediately. I can't like the Town has done with the police dept roof ignore it in hopes it won't be a problem. I've also got to have running water, repairing whatever element of the system that might be failing or face even bigger problems. The Town though continues to put off the replacement of a new water tower in Rotterdam Junction.
These things the Town has been avoiding simply are not going away and they are likely becoming bigger problems through inaction. These are important necessities not willy nilly desires. They must be paid for. If it means taxes go up then I guess we get shafted. I'd like to think a little fiscal management might mitigate that aspect as I don't like paying taxes anymore than the next guy. Just look at how much money has been expended on studies in just the last couple years and you'll see potential for actually fixing rather than studying.
We all know there are no easy answers. Not individually or collectively.
We better fix them now before those folks who cant 'fathem' the responsibility of 'ownership' and responsibility and expect the government to just feed and water them(no matter how substandard it is) move here......our borders are being pushed over and the legislature could care less about the shuffle.....Ms. Dagastino will surely be retiring and moving to Florida or where ever in the near future so, she sure doesnt care.....

The amount of money spend on studies have gotten this town absolutely NO WHERE!! Where is the return on our investment with these studies? Our tax money paid for these studies and we have gotten squat back. Sure things are being 'talked' about, but I've yet to see any action ANYWHERE! We don't even see a 'plan'.

I know and agree with your entire post, I'll ask it again.....How high do you want your taxes? I would love to form a sewer district in the hamlet of D'burg, we need it....desperately but I can't add an $1,800 per year tax bill on top of already over taxed residents. We would literally clear the town of the current residents who have lived there forever. A catch 22.

Wow ... how'd you become a politician with that attitude??
Rotterdam is in a position to develop commercially in the few major areas left in town. In order to follow through with these commercial developments, sewers will be essential. Roads may need to be widened. Residential areas close to these areas will need to be taken into consideration. And yet there is no updated comp plan.
So I guess what I'm getting at, is that IF it will be too costly to provide sewers and sidewalks and widen roads where needed, than start putting monies aside for future infrastructure. Stop all of these costly studies, which will be outdated by the time any of this comes to pass. PLAN FOR THE FUTURE. And just continue on the path of 'maintaining what is already here'.
