Thank you to whom-ever was able to keep the vendors away, the ones that walk up and down the parade route trying to sell over priced balloons and other items that kids don't need to enjoy a parade.

Geez!! That was the best part of the parade when I was a child. The balloons, the noise makers, and those little fake fire cracker that you through at the ground and they snap. There's only so many different color fire trucks you can look at before you become bored.
When I was a kid - and I imagine when a lot of you were kids, balloons weren't $10, more than just firetrucks and businesses doing blatent advertising. We had a sense of pride in our community watching the bands, firetrucks, boyscouts/girlscouts, veterans, teachers, local elected officials, antique cars and more go down the street.
Today's parades, like the Christmas parade, is nothing but advertising - commercialism to the Nth degree - not to mention the highly annoying noise they call music. Today, there's no candy thrown from the floats for fear kids will get poisoned (and the giver sued). Today, politicians are doing nothing but insuring their re-election -v- when we were kids and they said "thank you" for putting them in office.
Times have changed, parades definately are not what they used to be.
I heard from some people that this memorial day parade seemed shorter and not as good as the last ones. I don't know cause I didnt attend. But I did hear from some little kids that the loved the free candy that they threw to the crowds. So I guess they had candy at this one.

A few floats had candy which was thrown to the kids. Back when I was a kid there were military vehicles, soldiers, military bands playing patriotic music and the military veterans were applauded and respected.
I know they had fireworks after the parade because of th weather from the community day, but where were fireworks a few days ago, Sunday maybe, or maybe it was Saturday nighte
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
I didn't know they could shoot off fireworks after 10pm at night.
