Former Scotia Navy Depot for sale
The Business Review (Albany)
A 7.5 acre parcel that was formerly part of the Scotia Navy Depot is being auctioned off.
On the property is a 40,000-square-foot empty building that was the Navy's recruiting office dating back to the 1940s, said Ray Gillen, chairman of Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority.
Schenectady County lawmakers are in discussions with the U.S. General Services Administration, which oversees the land, about 60 acres that is adjacent to the former Navy site that it also controls.
The 7.5 acre site is listed as a "hot sale" on GSA's site,

The site is located along Route 5 and near exit 26 on I-90.
The county's goal is to put the property back on the tax rolls. The property is located within an Empire Zone, which provides tax breaks for businesses.
"Transfer of this land near exit 26 and in the heart of the Scotia Glenville Industrial Park is something that the county's economic development team has worked on for almost four years," said Susan Savage, chair of the Schenectady County Legislature.
