Watch the news, look at Greece and the other European countries.

Agreed.

Those of us who do not have a home defense weapon should seriously start thinking about it.

It wouldn't hurt to have a couple of weapons.

Don't worry.

That's happening.  Pro-growth states are gaining residents, leaving NY, NJ, MA, etc...  with less and less representation, and less and less of a tax base.

You'll get your wish - more and more people will leave due to the horrible economic policies of progressives, and this state, along with others, will near bankruptcy and have to massively slash spending causing a massive upset in the socioeconomic system...   Which will force crime even further up.

If you think that you displayed some wisdom ... maybe I should get a microscope out to try to find it.

Seriously I'm laughing my a** off here.

While others insult you, I have not.

It truly is amusing to me to see your intellect fail...  You resort to name calling when you cannot defend your outrageous statements and ideas.

Saying that the YMCA and the YWCA are separate organizations is hardly an "outrageous statement"
and saying that I wished that the whining N.N.N.'s would just leave town already isn't outrageous either.
If they are so unhappy with Schenectady and New York --- leave  or  become part of the solution -- but
stop the endless whining and complaining while they just sit on their fat asses and do nothing to BUILD UP
their community.

People in Schenectady have proven time and time again that they don't sit on their "fat asses". The line for assessment grievances stretched far throughout City Hall. Even the sick and elderly came out because they could not afford yet another tax hike.

People ARE leaving Schenectady, they just can't sell their families homes (no one wants to pay Schenectady taxes) so they resort to renting them out or having the banks foreclose on them. People complain and have spoek through their votes.

This is way Savage did not get elected. The nail in her coffin (so early in the race) was the "Schenectady Miracle" commercial. Even people who defend and live in Schenectady were outraged by such lies. Schenectady is far from a miracle and people with their head in the clouds will never accomplish anything for our City.

Keep complaining, keep fighting higher taxes and keep telling the truth behind illegal dealing from the Mayor and get the Metroplex abolished. It's the only way to take out the trash!

The "head of the snake" was defeated in the November 2nd election.  If you want a rebirth in the County and City, the Democratic
controlled County Legislature and City Council must change hands.  The barn stalls must be "mucked" regularly.

And 2011 will be the year to do it.

Add to this.........abolish the county leg and replace it with a board of supervisors!

It would take more than a year to abolish the County Legislature ... you would have to amend the
county charter ... that is a fairly involved process.

It is funny that you folks keep bashing Ms. Savage  ... she has only been in office 7 years -- yet Hugh Farley
has been in office 34 years and DONE NOTHING to help Schenectady County.     The fact is that you folks
are party hacks .... if the name say (R) after it .. you salivate and wag your tails like Pavlovian puppies.

The problem for DVR and his cheer leaders is that the sheeple in Rotterdam are not "sitting on their fat asses" either. Twice in one week they voted in record numbers AGAINST a school tax and a new taxing district. Even with the "leaders" of both the DEMS & REPS coming out in favor of the new taxing district. Something is going on. The sheeple are sick and tired of the political elites increasing spending and taxes.

The DEM machine is out of gas. Privately everyone criticizes Landslide Savage. The best move is for a more representative Board of Supervisors which would finally give the Hilltowns a seat at the decision table. If it takes 2 years so be it. Start in January. This would eliminate 15 overpaid do nothings that represent no one. How many can name all their County legislators? Let the new Mayor and City Council President join all the town supervisors on an unpaid board. This would improve efficiency and be more democratic.

If you look back a few months, you will see that when the subject of going back to a Board of Supervisors
was brought up ... I said that it was a good idea.  But the fact remains, it will take some work and some
time to accomplish.

Personally, I think we should consolidate ALL of the municipalities into a single City-County government.
The time for parochialism in local politics is long over.   When the new Governor and State Legislature
pass the property tax cap early in 2011, the pressure will be on to consolidate local governments.  I say that
it is an idea LONG overdue --- lets move forward on creating ONE SCHENECTADY.

Everyone says they support it. Then they have to talk to someone in another County and nothing happens. After New Year we must start pushing this idea so it can be on the ballot in January. If you are serious we have the people here to make it happen.

As far as consolidation-baby steps-start by consolidating Scotia into Glenville. Once you start talking about consolidating police everyone goes sideways. Town residents do not want their officers on Hamilton Hill. Town officers do not want to be on Hamilton Hill. A return to a Board of Supervisors is a giant step forward. Then people will know who their County voice is. It also adds value to the Supervisor so maybe better candidates will emerge.

Consolidating the city and 5 towns and 2 villages into one City-County   and consolidating the 6 school
districts into one school district  -- will reduce redundancy and cut costs and cut taxes.

I would also like to see the Metroplex board be phased out -- and control of this economic development
tool be returned to where it belongs -- either the County Legislature or a County Board of Supervisors --
that way the people could hold the elected representatives directly responsible.

As for consolidating police forces -- if you consolidate into a City-County -- you would have 1 police department
and that would be a good thing.   They would have to work where they are needed.
