Why doesn't the town want to just let the people stay in the apartments. Do they have a reason to want to force them all out on the street? We aren't getting the whole story on this problem there is an underlying reason for the town's actions.

For someone who doesn't like the "old way" of backroom deals, making exceptions, bending the rules, and breaking the law for connected people, you sure want it both ways. The property is not ZONED for it. Now you and John want the town to spot zone for this outfit because they rented it out without being properly zoned. I am sure Jimmy C would have made a fast zone change for him. There are a few elements of Steve's administration which piss most people off. One is that he follows the laws and doesn't bend things for friends with  influence.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

I'm not condoning what is or isn't being done I would just like to know the whole truth so I could make an intelligent decision. How many zone changes have been made over the years to accomodate builders by both parties. It was an Army Depot for years what was the zoning then?

How many AFTER THE FACT zoning changes is the real question?  They move in, BREAK THE LAWS AND REGS., plead ignorance and have their tenants come to a meeting. "It's doesn't maaaatterrr whose fault it was, sir...we like our homes!"

How about the negative effect of having 200+ people move into the town at once?  Effect on the town who didn't know, the school districts who didn't know, etc.  There is a reason for policy, law and regulation...it is to keep things in check, and be PREPARED.

Cut the crap here...the tenants may suffer here, and my heart goes out to them.  But they are suffering at the hand of there irresponsible landlord, NOT the town.

To me it matters what the dollars and cents are in the issue.. is having them there worth it financially.. is it a bonus or a burden?
Did someone have to approve the said of the army depot, did the town have 0 say in this?
Can you rent out appartments w/o approval from the town first?

These things i do not know, but how exactly did 200 people move in under the cover of darkness?

I don't spell check!  Sorry...
If you include "No offense" in a statement, chances are, your statement is offensive.

All I know is that those particular apartments were full of Army personal and their families for years until the Army Depot closed. If the landlord indeed rented the apartments to the tenants without first consulting the town then the landlord is truly at fault and the 200 renters will be the ones to pay the price. As Vaedur has stated will the town be better off financially with or without the renters there. What use does the town want the landlord to use the land for or does the town just want another piece of vacant land like Capital Plaza, the old Kmart mall, Grand Union, CVS Drug store, and lets not forget the eye sore at 4 corners that's falling down.

Very good points shadow. I just find it hard to believe that the town was unaware of these apartments being purchased and rented. I went back on this thread and found the information here a long time ago. So if we knew, didn't the town?

Although I do hold the owners responsible as well. But why didn't the town approach these owners way back when? There is clearly enough questions to go around.

Another great plan from Severino? First let the Army Depot fall apart-refuse to properly market it, let Metrograft get involved and do nothing. Lost hundreds of jobs. Now let the apartments go the same route-further lowering town tax revenues. No problem the sheeple can pay more- hot potato to Surprise.

Let us not forget Curry Rd. Another desolation boulevard where jobs and stores used to be. Another lower State Street. No wonder he is a REP endorsed by the commie WFP.
