Definitely no drugs, not even OTC meds. But what do you think taxpayers are supposed to say, are the financially struggling people of the city who have to cut back on necessities like meds, house maintenance, food, turning the thermostat down....are they supposed to be willing to pay to add more housing to a city with a record high vacancy rate of EXISTING housing AND a glut of houses on the market????
People on drugs have minds that are altered. People who cheer for higher taxes, people who support taxing the low income people in order to give tax exemptions for the rich, people who cheer for giving our tax dollars to the rich while failing to address the important things like crime, educaton, etc, are people whose minds are altered, an indication they are on drugs. You see to be one of those using mind altering drugs because ONLY A PERSON ON DRUGS would support making low income people pay the taxes for the rich
Oh MC1.....these liberal socialist are not on drugs..............they are just blind with greed and power and self serving and self elevating!! |

Since the ALCO site has been virtually empty for 41 years --- I am looking forward to seeing this new project built and am optimistic that it will be a great addition to Schenectady County.
The naysayers can go whine in the corner. |

And what is more important, DV????? Is it more important for homeowners to have adequate fire and police protection? Or is it more important to build housing in a city that has a glut of empty abandoned houses and houses for sale that are not selling? Is it more important to use tax dollar to build housing where there is a more than ample supply of existing housing or is it more important to use the tax dollars to clean up the neighborhoods? Is it more important to give handouts to millionaires or to spend it on education? Tell us what is going to happen to those people who spent a half century in their homes and can't afford the taxes and can't sell the houses either? What will happen DV? Can you tell us???? Only a person on drugs would think it's better to add more housing to a city with a glut of housing. |

A $200 million development... In this economy... In this overly taxed city... Let's just say I'm skeptical it will actually happen. |

The metroplex is going to hit a brick wall soon. Too many irons on the fire, too much invested, too little return. They have over extended themselves at the taxpayers expense. In the 10 years of the metroplex promising lower property taxes....they have only increased to beyond unmanageable. |

To build more unwanted condos-in a City with thousands of empty houses that is losing population! This what failed Metrograft has given you; the highest tax rates, highest unemployment in the Capital District and worst resale values. Abolish it. End this failed experiment in reverse Robin Hood. If there was a need for condos in Schenectady Anthony Street would have sold one unit. Peeps want condos in Saratoga not Schenectady. These DEM idiots will chase out Schenectady Steel and have another park that they can't afford to maintain. |

The senior condominiums just across the river are doing quite well -- this project will do quite well. |

The problem with condominiums is that with too many of them, even though they are high-end, the people that start to move in to them are the type of people that want to get away from the issues in the city... and then they bring the problems from the city with them. I have been saying for years that the MFRH is the problem in this town. People want the developers to have the ability to build these to help to expand the tax base, but the problem is the issues that come with row houses and MFRH that are popping up everywhere and spreading. |

it is very easy for a bunch of armchair whiners and complainers .. to put down every economic development project that is proposed ---- since you folks seem to think that you know all the answers, why don't you get off your whining fat butts and put together your own proposal ????? |

When they "discover" a nuclear reactor on that property it will mysteriously become another industrial warehouse paid for by the taxpayers. And owned by Galesi. |

1) Schenectady is struggling to find money for firefighters - yet the chief is participating in a corrupt retirement/overtime scheme
2) Metroplex is building condos on a former locomotive, EPA-hazard parcel of land when hundreds (if not thousands) of homes in the City are for sale, abandoned or in foreclosure.
3) The Mayor proposes a "curb tax" for Churches and non-profits to help the failing City, yet a golf pro makes $300K, the City workers have free cars to travel to their homes (which are in safe, far away towns) and the City has free cell phones for everyone to abuse!
3) All the taxpayers of Schenectady have higher property taxes for neighborhoods filled with criminals, gangs and blight. Their homes are decreasing in value everyday and the City ignores their cries for help. Assessments are through the roof, neighborhoods are corroding, the schools are still failing yet the taxes paid are definitely not representative of the services rendered.
4) Downtown Schenectady has become a haven for Metroplex funded, tax exempt bars and restaruants for which county and city taxpayers are paying for over and over again. Metroplex has become a taxpayers nightmare! It's helping business establish themselves in a tax-free, fully funded area and then City then ask the taxpayers for $100K for state-of-the-art parking kiosk?!
Now, I'm not an expert in politics or urban development, but to build condos in a City which can't even support the most basic services or can't control its outrageous and corrupt spending has me question the true meaning behind the project.
If money is to be spent in Schenectady, why aren't the abandoned homes leveled? Why aren't gang task forces in the City to rid us of the free-flowing drug trafficking? How about putting businesses back in the areas WHERE PEOPLE LIVE!! Bring life to the dead neighborhoods! Does anyone not see the true dilapidation of the City or has the light from the shiny facades of Downtown blinded people to reality? |

DV, tell us WHAT has YOUR economic development done for the city?????? You constantly avoid answering this question. Tell us what this taxpayer funded economic development has done..... ...to peoples tax bills ...to residents' personal financial situations, to their budgets ...to the crime rate in the city ...to the education ...to the infrastructure in the city ...to essential city services ...to the population of the city ...to the numbers of vacant housing ...to the number of houses for sale ...to the number of houses being purchased to name a few Well???? Care to answer? And, by the way, when you answer, I challenge you to provide proof of your answers ...to the |

that's only because you know ONLY what the spin doctors tell you to say. She's/He's asking only legitimate questions - questioning what YOU presented as "facts" - and have since been dismissed as Kook-Aid drunken dribble. |
