I have lived on my own as an adult .. and at this stage of my life I am assisting my elderly aunts.
I am getting tired of your profoundly ignorant comments and personal attacks.   Grow some balls and
meet me face to face.

I have, but you wouldn't remember.

Nice to live with with a couple rich elderly aunts (with incomes too high to be eligible for STAR enchanced).   No experience living with Savages high taxes.

But again, you avoided answering the question.

The city already has WAY MORE HOUSING than it needs.   A city with 25% of it's housing vacant is probably a record in this country.  So HOW is adding more housing overdue?

How is causing more taxpayers to lose their home to taxes by raising their taxes to give handouts to the millionaires for stupid projects long over due?

DV, are YOU going to buy one of those condos and pay the nearly the highest taxes in the country?   WHO do you think is going to buy a condo in a city with almost a 20% crime rate and nearly the highest taxes in the whole nation, when they can buy many many many places in the capital region and pay only a fraction of the taxes?????

WHO would you say will buy a condo and pay not only their own property and school taxes but also the property and school taxes for the millionaires downtown????????   Who, DV, who???????

You don't know anything about me and my family -- which is good because it is really none of your damn
business.
What properties, I own or intend to purchase is none of your business either.

I now resume my policy of ignoring your ignorant questions and comments.

DV, I'm not really wanting to know if you were going to buy.

What I'm interested in really is your explanation for supporting the creation of additional housing units in a city that has a record high vacany rate of EXISTING housing, in a city with nearly the highest taxes in the whole nation, at a time when property values in the city are falling, and there is a HUGE glut of EXISTING housing for sale that have sat for sale for months and months and months.  And why would ANYONE buy a condo in the city and pay SUBSTANTIALLY more in taxes than if they went to condos outside of the city?

WHY would someone buy a condo in a city with a failing school system AND pay twice the taxes when they can go outside the city for a condo, pay half the taxs and have a very good school system?   Tell us why DV?

WHO would buy a property fore $100,000 only to have it drop in value to $80,000 while the amount owed on it is $90,000?

And WHY should the overburdented taxpayers be forced to foot the bill for a project.     Would you agree that it would be FAR BETTER use of our tax dollars to rehab the existing houses and try to clean up the neighborhoods??????

While I'm not trying to be nosy of any plans of yours, I'm wondering, in a general sense, if, since you support more housing in a city with more housing than it needs, if you would really seriously consider buying one of these condos and pay twice the taxes for half the services?

And by way, any properties you own  IS public record as is how much you pay for it, the  complete copy of your mortgage is public information, how much you pay in taxes is everyone's business as public record, as well as if you fail to pay taxes, if you are foreclosed, if you sell, it's ALL PUBLIC RECORD

Apparently, knowing that it would be totally foolish for anyone to CHOOSE to pay twice taxes, then you avoid the question altogether

Really, you can't even GIVE away a house in the GE Plot let alone rent one in the City. If a couple is forced out of their over-taxed family home they've lived in for 20+ years, highly doubtful they will live in a Schenectady condo. They'll be moving somewhere where the crime is low, neighborhoods are safe and where there are ample firefighters and police. Families won't flock there either as the school system is also one of the poorest in the area. Creating a "new neighborhood" or a "new downtown" will not negate the fact that Schenectady is over-taxed, full of corruption and sinking due to ill conceived projects which are bankrupting the residents.

Am curious how much it's going to cost to clean up the soil. The century of trains, oil, gas and various other chemicals. Wouldn't want to see condos built on contaminated soil....

There is a huge housing surplus in the City-o the DEM idiots propose more condos! First try and sell some condos on Anthony off Van Vranken where the developers clear cut hundreds of trees. ALCO site should be for industrial/manufacturing-housing doesn't fit in the mix. The City DEM answer for everything is housing, arts or gin mills. And of course-higher taxes for less services.

Will Susie Savage buy and move into one of these condo's?   NOT.  Why not????   Because she doesn't want to pay the taxes that SHE has forced the lower income financially struggling city resident to pay.

She and the rich hubby could have bought that GE plot house for full cost AND paid for it's renovation.  But she wouldn't buy a foot square parcel in the city cuz she knows what SHE and her people did to the taxpayers.

Most likely she's getting some pay offs from the millionaires.

And probably sharing with DV.   DV won't even answer a general question.  I can understand that he wouldn't "divulge" what his real plans are (which no way include buying property in the city---that's a guarantee).   He states that this is a wonderful project, but refuses to answer the question of why adding more housing to a city with a glut is a good thing; he won't answer the question of WHO would buy a condo and pay twice the taxes and have the condo's value promptly fall upon purchase, etc.  Me thinks he refuses to answer becuase he knows his political boss Susie is reading these boards.  He probably showed them to her to start, and now he will never make any statements unless they fully support her, Gillen, higher taxes and ignoring the neighborhoods

Again, avoid the question.

How good is it to add more housing to a city with a whopping 25% vacancy rate of existing housing AND a glut of other existing houses already for sale at rapidly falling asking prices?

And HOW will these condos sell with taxes that FAR EXCEED ANYTHING that you can buy comparable properties only a couple miles away in the suburbs,?  And HOW will these condos sell with the worst school system.  And HOW will these condos sell with neceesary city services, especially police and fire, being cut?

WHY is it good to substantially raise taxes on people struggling financially.  DV, since you don't own a house, you don't bear that responsibility to make the decisions.  But for a typical family in the city, maybe a couple with a child or two, a typical income of $30,000, paying combined property and school taxes of at least $5,000 a year, trying to pay the mortgage, utility bills, car payment, food, medical, clothing, insurances, save for college (haha), save for retirement (haha), routine home maintenance and things like having to put on a new roof, or install a new driveway, oh yeah, when the city orders you to replace that sidewalk broken up from the tree roots that they refuse to take down the tree, etc.   DV, can you illustrate a budget showing how a typical Schenectady family can afford the necessities AND pay for all these NON-ESSENTIAL projects?

(I try to avoid mentioning this,--I'm NOT asking you how much you contribute in room and board,  but the public records reflect no senior STAR enhanced exemptions, which means the income of the owners of the property have a relatively high incvome. and even if you pay a token room and board---again, I'm NOT asking you how much--but since you have no responsibility for the high taxes, you have no idea whatsoever how it is for the Schenectady residents to try to support themselves AND pay for all those projects that you support----projects which have not improved the city---no improvement whatsoever.)

Actually, I think that is a great location along the river.   I could see myself buying a couple of those

So, you believe in buying property to lose money, huh?   Well, buy them ALL.....under one condition....you pay 100% of the taxes, no exemptions whatsoever!   ARe you willing to do that?

So, you ARE willing to pay Golubs taxes, Mallozzi's taxes, the taxes of the worldwide multi million dollar chain hotel, and all the other rich businesses?

DV, tell us why financially struggling people should be forced to pay the property and school taxes of millionaires.  Can you answer that?

Definitely no drugs, not even OTC meds.      But what do you think taxpayers are supposed to say, are the financially struggling people of the city who have to cut back on necessities like meds, house maintenance, food, turning the thermostat down....are they supposed to be willing to pay to add more housing to a city with a record high vacancy rate of EXISTING housing AND a glut of houses on the market????

People on drugs have minds that are altered.  People who cheer for higher taxes, people who support taxing the low income people in order to give tax exemptions for the rich, people who cheer for giving our tax dollars to the rich while failing to address the important things like crime, educaton, etc, are people whose minds are altered, an indication they are on drugs.  You see to be one of those using mind altering drugs because ONLY A PERSON ON DRUGS would support making low income people pay the taxes for the rich
