You can see the RPI sign by the Mohawk River. Only been there for 30 years.

Y'all get your condos-don't mind no toxins, nuclear waste, horrible schools and record taxes! Only 500 left must sell! Another Metrograft/DEM "renaissance" project!

Haven't seen the proposal for the ALCO site, but it might go something like this (thanks MC1 for the inpiration):

Gazetto April 1st, 2011

It was quite a spectacular ribbon cutting ceremony this morning at the new "Schenectady Miracle Condos" built on the former ALCO site. The speed at which the construction of the buildings were erected has surprised even the most experienced contractor. The Metroplex Authority decided to award the Galesi group a grant for $18 billion dollars to buy state-of-the-art equipment to complete the project in only a few short months.

To date, the 100+ condo units will be occupied. Mayor Stratton had given each City worker a key to their new condo unit as a gift at last years Christmas party. Not only will the City workers now follow the residency laws, but even the Mayor, Proctors own Philip Morris, Metroplex Authority chair Ray Gillen and all of the City Council and County Legislature have decided to move into the Miracle Condos as well.

Some of the important perks at the Condos: a separate school system, a separate police/public safety unit, a private Price Chopper for the Condo residents, many private parks and green space. As if that wasn't enough, the entire complex is surrounded by a 12 foot fence. The entrance is guarded by former SWAT team operatives so that the Condo residents feel safe in their palace on the river.

Best of all, none of the Condo residents will ever spend a dime at their new homes. The taxpayers of Schenectady and of Schenectady County will provide all the services at the Miracle Condos. Food, electricity, maintenance and even the school system will be funded entirely by the taxpayers. When asked about his new home, the Mayor commented, "I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner!!!" And he should be happy, he has plans to build Stratton Castle and Proctors Fun Land in the Fall.

DV I hope you're as ready to stand up and take credit for this project if it turns out to be a giant failure.

Jealous?   WHo would EVER be jealous of a situation where taxes are increased so high that people lose their homes????   Who would EVER be jealous of the projects by the dems to take money from the poor and give it to millionaires???????????????

As a Catholic, do you support taking money from the poor and giving it to millionaires?   As a Catholic, do you feel it's right for a government to put people in a position where they can lose their homes in order to  cover the taxes of the millionaires?     Gosh, I hope you go to confession weekly and tell Fr Urban that you are sinning "so many times you cannot remember" for all the times that you fail to oppose the robbing of the poor people in the city to give to the rich.

What would Jesus do?   Take from the millionaires downtown and give it to the financially struggling taxpayers?   Or would he take away from human beings to fill the greed of the millionaire savages downtown?

The RepubliCAN'Ts are whining again and crying into their cry-baby bottles ..because the Democrats are
actually making economic redevelopment happen ... something the Party of NO was unable to accomplish
for all the years it ran the county and the city.

But back then it was safe for children to play outside.  Houses were occupied.  Crime wasn't as rampant through the whole city like it is today.  And the homeowners didn't have to pay their own taxes AND the property and school taxes of the millionaires

Easy for you to talk about spending the taxpayers' hard earned money when you don't pay taxes and you live with/off some rather higher income people

People of the 'working together party' aka liberal socialist progressives, fail to admit that in the decade the plex, savage and the dems have run the corrupt show......taxes have risen to the highest in the state and the 19th highest in the country.
They fail to admit that under their watch, welfare recipients now out number the working class.
They fail to admit that under their watch, crime is at an all time high.
They fail to admit that under their watch, there are more tax exempt properties than there EVER were.
They fail to admit that under their watch, their reigning leader, SOS, has not only tried to give himself an illegal raise, but also  tried to screw the taxpayers, AGAIN, by illegally padding the fire chief's pension.

But really.......does anyone really need to hear that directly from any of them? The proof was in the last election where savage and santabarbara lost miserably! And the people that pull the lever is all that matters.....right?

So to you mc1, you seem to be dead on with your vision of schenectady. Get that message out to EVERYONE you come in contact with. Next nov will be here sooner than we think!!

The awesome thing about this new project on the old ALCO site is that finally Schenectady is embracing its
place on the Mohawk River.   Once we get the Bicentennial Park built in Rotterdam Junction -- along with other
improvements in that hamlet .....   Just like as string of pearls  -- we will have a string of wonderful places
along the river in Schenectady County  from Rotterdam Junction  down river to the City of Schenectady and
Village of Scotia and further on down to Niskayuna.

This is a great and exciting time to be a resident of Schenectady County.
