Bumble I agree, both parties really need to be completely overhauled and new heads of the party chosen who will do the bidding of the residents and not just become a self serving entity like they are now.

Not sure how my posting of the facts regarding the establishment of the International Charter School of Schenectady translates to your presumption of my "hatred for all Dems". Your characterization is inaccurate. To clarify, my disdain is for corrupt politicians of any party and people, like yourself, who post misleading information to divert responsibility and attention from the real problems in our government.
You are correct that Tomassone, Mertz and Vellano were the "Reps" on the board . That was neither the interpreted basis of your assertion nor, I suspect, the intended purpose of your post. My post simply provides the accurate detail that Paolino was Supervisor at the time. And, for the record, who were the other Town Board members in 2005?

The soon-to-be vacant International Charter School of Schenectady building has drawn interest from a familiar neighbor. Administrators from the Mohonasen Central School District have expressed interest in the building they once owned and occupied, more than two decades ago. Last week, Superintendent Kathleen Spring and members of the district’s Board of Education met with Rotterdam Supervisor Steve Tommasone to discuss a potential joint effort to find a use for the property off Draper Avenue, once it is vacated by the charter school at the end of the term. “Both of us feel that if we could do something creative in working together, we might find something to serve both the community and the district’s need,” Spring said Tuesday. “We’re definitely both interested.” Likewise, Tommasone expressed an interest in developing a plan for the property that would appease all interested parties. He would like to develop a long-term plan involving the town, neighborhood, Mohonasen district and perhaps other community interests. “We would like to come together as a community and reoccupy the facility in a way that’s the best for all of us,” he said. Spring said discussions over potential uses for the building are in their infancy. However, she said the district is aware of residential concerns over the current use of the property as a school. For instance, Spring said the building might be a good location to house community programs within the school. She said the district may also investigate ways it could apply its 95 percent building aid from the state to a rehabilitate the former Draper School. “It’s just keeping that building in our thoughts as we look into our long range plans,” she said. Mohonasen officials approached Tommasone about potential uses for the building after the State University of New York Board of Trustees voted against extending a charter to ICSS. Initially, Schenectady School District officials showed interest in the building, but cooled to the idea after hearing an outpouring of complaints from homeowners. Residents argued the charter school caused excessive noise and traffic. Many claimed these problems didn’t exist when the building operated under Draper and Mohonasen because most students walked to the school from surrounding homes, rather than being bused or driven there. Spring said many obstacles remain, including the charter school’s $6.8 million of debt on the building. Tommasone said further discussions will take place as the charter school dissolves and First Niagara Bank assumes control of the property. Ultimately, he said it’s in the best interest of all the involved parties to find a use for the building. “There are some unique conversations going on,” he said. “At this point, I think we should look into a long-term solution for that property.”
Oh I don't know. Certainly not for the town hall since the one on Sunrise appears to be in better shape. As far as for the police department, I think it would be over kill! And anyways, when I look at it, I still see a school. I guess I can't see beyond that.
Perhaps we could get Mr.Waite, of the notorious Big House, to develop it, huh? Or let's ask Mr. Gillen. They can just throw millions of taxpayers dollars at it and have it sit there for about 3-4 years!!

I happened to be talking to someone today from the charter school. (not a teacher) This person told me that Mohonasen has been there once to look over the place and will be going again within a week to check it out again! We can only hope and pray.

The people in the neighborhood use to complain about the 'garbage' around the school. Well, school is out and there is still garbage around the school. What excuse will they use now?
