Quoted from Kevin March: Yes, all the people on the board for the Metroplex were voted unanimously to approve, except for Mr. Saccocio, who was unanimous, except for Ms. Savage's no vote.
Like Savage should be one to speak of potential conflicts of interest?
Susan Savage’s leadership in taking on “Schenectady’s good ol’ boys” has made all the difference for the people of Schenectady County. Four years ago, downtown Schenectady looked like a war zone, and competing economic development agencies were so busy fighting with each other that they forget they were supposed to be creating jobs and a tax base. The industrial parks were nearly empty and the former Alco plant was looking like it would be vacant for another 40 years. When Savage became chair, she changed how things were done. She brought in [Metroplex Chairman] Ray Gillen, a top economic development official with the state. Gillen has led a new, unified economic development team that has created many hundreds of new jobs and brought in millions in new investment. Our downtown has been rebuilt, our industrial parks are thriving, and there are plans to redevelop Alco. Now, members of both parties heap praise on Gillen’s hard work and accomplishments. Savage didn’t stop with economic development. She created the Committee on Intergovernmental Cooperation and, working with other local leaders, helped save taxpayers in Schenectady County millions of dollars. Ms. Savage’s latest achievement is getting permission from the state Health Department to build a new 210-bed nursing home to replace the Glendale Home. When the “good ol’ boys” on the Berger Commission wanted to all but close Glendale, Savage led the effort to save it — and won. We need more leaders like Susan Savage — who will stand up to the “good ol’ boys” and knows how to get things done. ELLEN MALKIS Niskayuna

Does Ellen realize that Schenectady does not have a solid job creation in place and the tax base is at best unchanged. In fact, since Susan Savage has been in her position, taxes (or 'user fees) have gone up. But then Ellen lives in Niskayuna!!!

Ellen realizes more than you think Bum, she served as a clerk for the legislature. I'm not sure if she is still there or not but she was only a matter of months ago. I think, and don't quote me, but I think she is the chair of Nisky democratic committee.

The Gazette did a good job disclosing that information. Letting the reader know where her loyalties lie.
Maybe I should write a glowing editorial about my boss. Imagine that.
If she really is a clerk there ( I got no reason to doubt Rene)- she must be one of the patronage jobs Farley talks about all the time. It is a stretch to imagine that anyone would write a nice letter about someone that gave them a cushy job. The gazette doesnt want us to know she is a chairman or a patronage worker, but what do you expect from them since they are in the pocket of the democrats 1000%

Wow what a rogues gallery. haha, I see GOD's cousin and Don Deangelus, who was the Constantino lawyer, I see Billy Kooke, and see that Bob Sanders who writes letters against the local town republicans, and look - Bellick who wrote a letter a few months back about how great it could be if they listened to the Savage plans for the college and the downtown too., AND someone named Don CLOUGH who must be part of that engineer outfit that the county uses all the time since you see the name in the paper for a lot of things, like the library and the different buildings. Ahhhh, you gotta wake up early to pull the wool over old Sal's eyes since I read every ounce of the paper every day and i NEVER FORGET a name and how it fits into that puzzle. Also how can I fgorget GARDNER! Geez o' petes
At least the dems are speaking out and being heard. Where are the reps? At least the dems are doing something...even if it's wrong. What are the reps doing? Where's their plan and vision for the county? Or is the democratic dictatorship just too big to conquer?
