Shoppers shouldn’t blame cashiers for their store’s policies BONNIE HEBERT Rotterdam
I just had to write and say, please have respect for the retail employees who are at the registers checking out your purchases during this busy holiday season, and the rest of the year, too. Have some patience. I recently was in line at the CVS Pharmacy on Altamont Avenue and watched and listened to a very rude middle-aged female yell and carry on, waving both arms, at the woman behind the counter — even threatening with getting her fired. The employee stood there, politely listening, trying to get a word in edgewise, explaining the store’s policy, etc. but this customer was so rude it didn’t even matter to her; she was out to get this employee in trouble. I regret now, not getting out of the long line, going to the pharmacist to get the manager to help, it was that upsetting to most of us standing in line. So, please, have some patience or stay home!
I am always nice to them FIRST...until they get nasty, sarcastic or I have to wait cause they are on their cell phone with their boy friend or girlfriend OR...I have to wait while the 2 or 3 cashiers have to confirm where they will meet after work and what they are going to where and who else might be there!!!!!!!!!!!
