From the language you use to describe the No New Tax Party calling them insurgents tells me your involved with the party in power in Rotterdam.
First of all, I didn't come up with "insurgents", the newspaper did, I quoted them and no I am not involved in any way with the current regime. Like I said before the "No New Tax Party" has not said anything that would make me vote for them other than they don't want any new taxes. To me that is not fiscally responsible nor feasible. They sound like a bunch of old time movie sheriff's that want to come in "and clean up this town". This isn't a movie, unfortunately it is New York.
The definition of insurgent is revolt or rebellion. When you call the No New Tax Party an insurgent,,,,,do you mean a revolt on taxes, or a revolt against the status quo of Schenectady County politics?
I wouldn't call the No New Tax Party an "insurgent" party, but rather a "choice" from the miserable choices we have now. The No New Tax Party is a beacon for ALL disenfranchised party constituents who believe in smaller government, fiscal restraint, and most of all LOWER TAXES. Something that the Rep,Dem,Con, & Ind parties don't offer.
Again, I personally did not call them insurgents, the Gazette did. They can revolt or rebel on taxes all they want. Lower taxes have to start at the State level. That is pure fact. But good luck in your belief regarding this party.
MM what is the single biggest problem in NYS as a whole, high taxes. High taxes drives out businesses and forces people on fixed income to flee the state in order to seek tax relief in a more tax friendly state so to many of us the message of no new taxes is a message we want to here. From what I've seen going on in this town in the last 20 years there's plenty of things that need cleaning up.

So you will vote Democrat or Republican, the major parties in NYS that ARE responsible for the high taxes. What's Einstein's definition of insanity?? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
Please tell me what is in the Democrat and Republican current platform and previous record that persuades you to vote for either candidate representing those parties. I would like to hear the message winning the hearts and minds of people in the highest taxed state, and the 9th highest taxed county.

Not one of my posts has said that I would vote for the Democrats or Republicans. I do however like to keep an open mind about all of the parties, however, the no new tax party hasn't said anything that the dems or repubs haven't said they were going to do over the years, cut taxes...blah, blah, blah....
MM, get out and meet the candidates of the No New Tax Party and see for yourself if they are any different than the typical politician, you know the type I'll say anything to get elected and then do what I want.
The Gazetto is scared too. They love the current system of incumbent KRATS running against Mr. Blank. The fact that even a liberal like Mr. Hull is disgusted speaks volumes. And yes newcomers there is a difference-get back to us after you've paid some of the highest taxes in the State.
Where is the Gazetto editorial attacking the current failed status quo one party system? Right they rather cheerlead for the Metrograft tax. This is no insurgency-this is fiscally Conservative REPS taking action. BRAVO!
The NO TAX PARTY is an idea whose time has come. It must spread Countywide so a choice can be offered. We must start somewhere. Now is the time-- the NO NEW TAX PARTY is the summer place to be!

I have met two of them and unfortunately I didn't have my hip waders on that day, I was covered in it up to my waist. I have also met two of the demoncrats and none of the repubs running. Gaslewski gets a no, Mertz a no, Delgallo a no, Esposito no. Yes, I do believe that they say what you want to hear. I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday.

I don't like the Gazette newspaper. They are so friggin biased! That and they only get half the story or get none of it right. They are like the STAR magazine or the National Equirer.

The difference being is, the No New Tax Party is funded by the candidates themselves and by small personal donations. The gentlemen running under this new line seem to want to get the spending in this Town and County under control, not control where the Town and County spend the money. They have no big donor interest that they have to return any favors to, or the desire to offer a service to enrich themselves on the taxpayers dime.(ie: Parisi's law firm)
I understand your reluctancy to follow any political movement, especially after being duped by Obama with his simple slogan of "change". I am a highly cynical and skeptical person myself. But I've learned this when following politics, when looking at a candidate, I look at the people and money behind the candidate. In doing so, I see know reason not to take their message of representing those who want to lower taxes at face value. I see know money trail behind these men that give me that pause. If I look at the Democrat, Republican, and Conservative party leadership as it currently stands, ALL their candidates are compromised by the large donors that keep them in power. They have a track record proving it.
These candidates are outside the current power structure of Schenectady County, the same party leaders that over time, and bad decision after bad decision, earned Schenectady County the award of the 9th highest taxed County in the COUNTRY.
Hi Mary...first off, my remark to you was intended as a lighthearted one (hence the smiley faces). My friends often tell me I'm a bit too serious and need to lighten up. It's good advice...so I'll offer it to you in turn.
I respect that you don't "believe" we can do what we say. Elections are all about (or supposed to be about) the competition of ideas. We need the best candidates, with the best ideas, fostering solutions. I believe real results begin with belief in them first...otherwise you're half defeated before you even begin. Can you guess the results you get with that approach? You get what we have.
We're taking a bottom up approach. You think change will start on the state or federal level? When real change comes, it will start from the bottom...the local level....and work it's way up. Disagree if you must...it won't deter my commitment to try. The fact of the matter though is if the 3 No New Tax Party candidates for town office win, we will control the decision making to effectively deliver on our 0% tax increase pledge.
