Mr. Surprise was unanimously appointed to the Assessor position at today's Town Board meeting.
I wonder if Steve and the Board regret that fateful day in the analog's of Rotterdam's rich and dirty political history when they hired J. Craig Surprise? Perhaps had Steve and Co. reappointed Macejka, there would be no Frank DelGallo, re-election would have in the bag for Steve and the threat from Mertz and Signore would have never materialized. Regrets.. I've had a few, but then again too few to mention...The Chairman of the Board...soooo sweet to my ears....toodle loo Mssr. Tommasone, Mertz, Signore, Parisi. Music to our ears! |

MT even you must know what a failure Surprise is. Macejka was great at his job. Too bad he got screwed by Ego and the gang. Macejka was the only balance that TH had. BTW Macejka also has the respect of a lot of folks in that field who work independently. He was always gracious and helpful to the seniors. Not true of Surprise AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT!!! Now Rotterdam's loss is Guilderland's gain. Always true with Rotterdam--they are always on the losing end. |

First - OMG! Second - Did you ever meet HIM? Third - If he's so respected outside of the public sector...why wasn't he picked up in the private sector instead of another taxpaid job in guilderland? |

My guess Bumble is the retirement system. As Cal pointed out, the dude is well respected throughout NYS. Unlike YOU! |

Respected in NYS ? For WHAT?
He clearly failed with GAR - while he smiled and blew sunshine up everyone's a**, he was a bastard to work with/for - NOBODY liked him - NOBODY in the office thought he was doing a good job.
Clearly a failure - now Guilderlands issue to deal with .. how are they treating you now? |

I think you have it wrong there MT. My experiences with that office is the only pleasant person to deal with in that office was Macejka. He helped my Mom out numerous times and would exchange recipes with her. On another note, have you ever had the pleasure of dealing with that office now? Like going to the dentist. Painful and unnerving to say the least. I personally can't wait to see Mr Surprise exit stage left with his "anger management issues" in tow. |

I have met personally with both Macejka and Surprise regarding property values and assessments. As rude as Surprise is, Macejka tops him. Surprise will listen and make changes if appropriate. Macejka was unreasonable and wasn't able to deal with people unless they were from the inner circle. There were a couple public meetings during the revaluation process when Macejka acted totally unprofessional and rude when answering the residents' questions. I'm sure Guilderland is experiencing the same behavior and having second thoughts about hiring Macejka. |

I never said I like surprises either ... but what you post (helped her out) is exactly the kind of thing people didn't like. John made up the rules as he went along - that's where we came into problems with GAR. He was there to do a job, not favors and trading recipes. He failed to do that job, and was correctly removed - as should Mr Surprise |

A mouthpiece for who BT???? FDG, Macejka, Littlefield, O'Connor, Esposito just who???? The problem is you all feed off eachother (bottom feeders will do that) The first voice of dissent appears on line and all you can do is bash it. Give it up. Get some air into the bunker. |

Your as likely to have a friendly relationship w/ an assessor as you are w/ a proctologist .. no one is gonna like the guy who asks you to bend over.. it's just the nature of things. |
| I don't spell check! Sorry... If you include "No offense" in a statement, chances are, your statement is offensive. |

John Macejka did an excellent job. He was well thought of by many of the seniors and he made himself available to them. Never saw him making up rules along the way. Do you think Paolino would have stood for that? If you do, you have no idea about the way TH was expected to do their job. Paolino demanded that everyone always put his best foot forward. He never was afraid to roll up his sleeves and get the work done. He demanded a lot from his staff BUT NEVER DENIGRATED THEM they way STeverino does.
Clearly you have NO first-hand knowledge of what went on there. Stop trying to tear down Macejka. He did his job well and did it with grace and dignity. |
