Spats with Spitzer lift Tedisco

Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco is becoming high profile statewide, thanks mainly to his collisions with Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
  
Schenec- tady County Legislator Bob Farley said Tedisco's popularity growth became evident at a Capitol rally over the illegal alien license flap.

"People in the crowd of 500 or 600 chanting 'Governor Tedisco, Governor Tedisco," Farley said. CNN's Lou Dobbs had Tedisco on his national show three times in a couple weeks.

Jasper Nolan, veteran Saratoga County Republican chairman, said Tedisco has the earmarks of a potential gubernatorial candidate. Tedisco represents portions of Saratoga and Schenectady counties.

"While some politicians are aloof, Tedisco is a caring person who came up the hard way," Nolan said. "He's a down to earth, real straight shooter. Not being a millionaire is the only thing that could hurt his chances."

Since the next gubernatorial race isn't until 2010, perhaps this is premature. Hey, in politics, it's never too early to speculate.
