J.G.'s Roman Villa ends run First published: Tuesday, October 2, 2007
Guidarelli wrapped up nearly 30 years in the restaurant business when he closed J.G.'s Roman Villa last Sunday. He launched his Rotterdam restaurant career in '78 at the old Curry Road Plaza. In '89, he moved to a leased location at the Galesi Group- owned Rotterdam Corporate Park.
"I'm grateful for wonderful Schenectady County customers, many of whom over time became friends," Guidarelli said. At 51, he plans to pursue other interests, which may not include the food industry.
Peter Guidarelli, his brother, is exploring the possibility of going into the restaurant field. He's been looking at some different concepts and a new name for the place.
Guidarelli, 40, owns a marketing/public relations firm. He's also a former County Legislature chairman. Four years ago, the Republican came within 300 or so votes of winning a mayoral election against Democrat Brian U. Stratton.

These are tough times for restaurants. Calamari fans should be packing the Villa where you can get it right -not the rubber band way. The Villa needs our support, especially with Price Chopper HQ fleeing. Nobody wants to talk about Aperitivo's coupon's on the cover of a coupon magazine? Not good on show nights. Get your scissors ready.
