Look at this, right from his website again...all of Schenectady County...and the entire county now paying to help keep Schenectady Schools safe.  That's right, not just your local dollars, but now your FEDERAL dollars are helping Schenectady High.

Where's Schalmont's extra federal funding?  Where's Mohonasen's?  and the rest of his school districts?  (At the bottom, I'm putting another copy of the map of his district)

McNulty Announces Federal Funding for the Schenectady City School District

(Washington, DC): -- Congressman Michael R. McNulty (D-Green Island) announced today that the Schenectady City School District will receive $1,426,269 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Education under the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Grant Program.

“The Safe Schools/Healthy Students Initiative is a program that provides students, schools, and communities with funding to implement activities and services that focus on preventing violence and alcohol and other drug abuse. This grant will allow the Schenectady City School District to provide students and families with a network of effective services, supports, and activities that will help their students grow in a safe environment and avoid engaging in risky behavior," said McNulty. "I cannot say enough about the outstanding work done by Schenectady City School District Superintendent Eric Ely and his staff in securing this federal grant for the children of the City of Schenectady."

Schenectady Superintendent Eric Ely said, “With this grant we will be able to expand upon several successful programs already underway within the district, and add programs and staff to help us expand our support for staff, students and families. As an urban district we recognize the challenges that many of our students and staff face. This funding will help us further our goal of meeting those challenges head on. With this grant we will be able to provide not only our kids, but also our parents, with proven programs and strategies aimed at providing them with as many resources as possible to help them be successful.

"I want to thank Congressman McNulty and his colleagues for their role in securing this funding for our district. As we plan for the future, every dollar will be used to make our district a better place for the children of Schenectady."

To apply for the Safe Schools/Healthy Students program, grantees had to propose a communitywide and community specific plan to address the problems of school violence and alcohol and other drug abuse. The plan had to focus on safe school environments, violence and other drug prevention activities, student behavioral, social, and emotional supports, mental health services, and early childhood social and emotional learning programs.
