Nice to know that the neighbor right next to Glendale placed Kurt Semon's sign right on the dividing line. Guess he didn't buy into the 'free' nursing home idea either.

New yorkers are already seeing the fall out of the rising cost of government pensions and health care and union wages. For the county to even THINK of building yet another run away train aka tax burden is irresponsible and screams of fiscal inadequacy. The private sector is willing to take on the task that they are already equipped and trained to do.

The fiscally responsible thing to do is to sell this multi-million dollar beast to a private concern. This IS an option that should be on the table during their discussions.

Whoever is writing this idiotic junk mail for the DEM morons should be fired. "The Savage Nursing Home will not cost the County taxpayers one penny". OMG! $12 million a year for 25 years but no pennies. Anyone that believes this rubbish should be locked in a rubber room. Present company included.

No one should believe this. The taxpayers have been sold down the river with promises before that have failed!!!! The entire government system is collapsing and these clowns are boasting that they are going to take on even MORE debt!! MILLIONS!! Who and how the hell do they think this is going to be paid for???

For once do what is right by the taxpayers and privatize it!! WE CAN'T AFFORD IT!!

Wasn't that the entire game plan at the beginning? It wouldn't cost the taxpayers anything becasue the State was going to pick up the tab through medicare?

Now the State cut back and the remaining 15% of 50 million ($7.5 million) is coming from where???? Cutting wages of staff??? That figue would NEVER add up to $7.5 million.

It's hemmoraging already! Someone has to stop this before the taxpayers are left with another $7++ million in the hole.

The DEM mailers make great bird cage liners. "The County Home will not cost taxpayers a penny". No wonder everyone is laughing at these DEM working together idiots. Re-elect who? WTF! Even the DEMS don't believe this crap. They admit making up job creation numbers. They are wasting time at Board of Elections. They should write novels.

Why won’t Sch’dy County Dems protect land near Glendale?

According to the Oct. 20 article by Michael Lamendola [“Level tax-rate budget OK’d”], Schenectady County Democratic legislators defeated a Republican amendment that would have protected open space behind the Glendale Nursing Home from future development.
This is the second time in the past year they voted against preserving this property and in doing so, they voted against the wishes of their own constituents.
This (approximately) 18 acres of land includes a pristine field and a popular sledding hill regularly used by county residents for jogging, nature walks, cross-country skiing and sledding, and it is a wildlife habitat as well.
For the past 18 months, Friends of the Indian Kill Field, a group of Democrats and Republicans, has been attending monthly Legislature meetings where we have repeatedly asked for a resolution to preserve this open space as “parkland.” More than 300 people have signed a petition, and more than 100 people have submitted statements or letters of support, but we have been stonewalled by our Democratic legislators.
However, Legislator Jim Buhrmaster and GOP candidate Kurt Semon have both publicly and avidly supported protecting this piece of property. I would like to thank them for their support, and I would like to thank them for understanding that addressing constituents’ concerns is important.
Although I am a registered Democrat, I will be proud to vote for them on Nov. 8.

    RAY COLLAR
Glenville The writer is a member of the Friends of the Indian Kill Field.
