Another reason to rethink building a huge new home in Glenville. Federal money will not be forthcoming-State money will not be forthcoming-County taxpayers will be left holding the bag-again. Wake up County sheeple!
I feel like I am being rolled over by a liberal steam roller and there is absolutely no way of stopping it!!!!! My freedoms are being threatened, I work to support the 'workless', I pay for programs I don't even believe in and the government is spending my hard earned money faster than I can!
I'm beginning to feel like a sheople! Being herded in a direction (like over a cliff) that I have so control over!!!!!!!

Nursing home fined for care lapses Glendale facility residents soiled themselves waiting for help getting to toilet

SCHENECTADY -- Residents at the county nursing home were forced to wait to use the bathroom, sometimes so long that they relieved themselves in their beds or on the floor, because of a shortage of workers, according to a state Health Department report that resulted in a $20,800 federal fine.
In September 2008, six residents of the Glendale Home recounted for Health Department interviewers how they felt humiliated when no one answered their call bells for help getting to the toilet.
The nursing home's penalty was listed this month in a routine report by New York City-based Long Term Community Care Coalition that tracks nursing home fines statewide.
"We definitely had that deficiency in that period of time," said Schenectady County spokesman Joseph McQueen. He said the facility in Scotia redeployed staff to handle the workload after a study that helped determine when call-bell use was highest. Additionally, he said, staff attended "dignity" training and the nursing home surveyed residents to ensure the bathroom problem had been addressed. He said no additional workers were hired.
For the survey, a state inspector asked Glendale staff about residents not being taken to the bathroom, and certified nurse aides and other employees said that certain days seemed to be short-staffed, sometimes to the point that residents were also not turned in their beds or bathed frequently enough. The state conducts the survey on behalf of the federal Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, which levies fines based on its standards.
Inspectors learned about problems encountered by one resident who had lived at the nursing home for only a month and needed the assistance of two staff members and a mechanical lift to get out of bed.
"She stated that sometimes staff would become angry with her for calling out when they were so busy and tell her she would have to wait," the inspector reported after speaking with the resident and her daughter. "She also stated that when she was waiting for help she would be in pain from the urgency of needing to void. The resident said that on several occasions she had wet herself while waiting for the staff and that she was mortified and embarrassed that she wet her bed.".........>>>>.............>>>>.....................http://www.timesunion.com/AspStories/story.asp?storyID=812876&category=SCHENECTADY
I wonder if that state inspector will be out of a job very suddenly?
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
Only the private outfits will then be graded. All government institutions will be considered "excellent, always."

GOOD ONE MT!! Did ya see me on the right, standing at the edge of the cliff? Yup...that's me.
Anyway....glendale home is the 'crap one' of the bunch. And when they scream the phrase 'short handed' perhaps they should look around and see how many of their staff has called in that day. Just check their staff load on Mondays. And guess what....they can't say a word cause they are 'union'.
Honestly....I wouldn't send my dog or cat to glendale....really!!

Did you notice, too, that there's only one sheeple coming from the right? (actually, seems more like a RINO than a Sheeple)...they're sure lining up off the left side, huh??? Going right off the screen!
Of course they won't consolidate! Hell, that would mean the dems would lose some of their voter base from the Glendale county employees! Silly you!
Also, they can say "Hey, it's not our fault all this is happening at the County Home. It's not as if we have a choice to sell it off." In fact, they don't, unless they're going to change the County Charter.

Does anybody know the last time this position was last appointed?
I was shocked by the June 16 article, “Mount Loretto Nursing Home among those fined over care,” on fines given for quality of care in area nursing homes. The article gave specifics of the dollar amounts of fines levied, but I think it failed in telling exactly what was meant as “quality of care.” I feel it is in the interest of the general public to know specifics. Do we want our fathers and mothers to be sent to such places if nursing homes are deficient for years? We, as the “baby boomer” population, may be confronted with nursing home care in our not-too-distant future. We should be able to help make the decision where we go for nursing home care, and giving the public this knowledge of specific quality care would help make this decision. On the other hand, I am told that sometimes we cannot make the decision as a patient, but must take whatever bed is available in nursing homes’ scenarios. If this is true, then we may have to take one of the beds that may be available in the nursing homes mentioned in the article for our care! Scary thought! Having a parent in a nursing home now makes me more aware of articles such as these. Some nursing homes can look like hotels on the inside, but care could be another issue entirely. It is time we all take more of an interest in nursing home care, if not for the well being of our parents or other relatives we may be responsible for, then for our own care we may be faced with in the future.
I read with great interest the May 28 article detailing plans by Schenectady County to build a scaled-down nursing home. Without question, I am in favor of building a new, state-of-the-art facility, as I have experienced the quality of care that Glendale residents receive when my late sister resided at Glendale. However, I do not believe the current location for the new site is the proper one. How about using the funds earmarked for the new Glendale facility and build it on the St. Clare’s campus on McClellan Street in Schenectady? No one can question the role St. Clare’s Hospital played in the care and treatment of the sick, elderly and downtrodden through the years. My late brother, Dr. Ralph Isabella, was chief surgeon at St. Clare’s for many years, thus I have a strong bond for St. Clare’s. Certainly, this location would be a huge boost to this neighborhood and the city, not only economically but also stabilizing a neighborhood in transition. Schenectady County leaders should rethink this plan and consider St. Clare’s as the site for the new Glendale home.
