Specifically -- they must really start investingin Mont Pleasant and Bellevue -- I am worried that the
decline of those 2 neighborhoods will creep over into Rotterdam.

You can't have it both ways. You say the dems are doing great in Schenectady, but you wouldn't want the
decline in your neck of the woods. How do you think every person in Schenectady feels!! The walls are caving in all     around us and there is no help in sight.

DVR does want to have it both ways. DVR wants economic growth at the taxpayer's expense!! Which creates a false sense of economic security. Which is exactly what schenectady has today. IF...this was working like promised, schenectady would not be the highest taxed county in the state/country!!! If it was working, people other than welfare recipients would be moving here by the groves....as well as private businesses. BUT THEY ARE NOT!!!!

And perhaps DVR doesn't own property in rotterdam, cause if he did, he would have noticed that mt.pleasant and bellevue has already crossed the city/town line.

Thank you Susan Savage, the metroplex and the rest of the democratic party for the county's high taxes and for turning rotterdam into a sh!thole!!!

DVR is a hard core socialist liberal democrat, wrapped in a cheap piece of transparent conservative wrapping paper. IMHO

The dems will just blame it on the past administration!! However, they fail to realize that they ARE the past administration and people are sick and tired of hearing that lame excuse, especially when their tax bill arrives!!

The dems portray themselves as victims. They can't help themselves!! Everyone else is to blame for their woes. It's the same thing they do to the electorate. Make them feel like victims and that the government will take care of them. People are tired of that BS!!! They are spending our tax dollar that is leading to nowhere except the to the 'chosen few'.

Who overlooks the bid process for the plex? Who picks the contractors and are they chosen based solely on 'low bidder'?

...............if only walls could talk!!!

What a kool aid drinking fool. Probably doesn't have enough gas money to drive through the city to see the reality.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

It's worse than that. He knows perfectly well what has happened to the City, especially Mound {sic} Pleasant. That's why he fled. Then DVR has the gall, the nerve, the chutzpah, to tell us that horrible Mayor SOS and his pathetic rubber stamps are doing "a good job". For who? The assessors office.

To top it off he frets that the total rot will seep over the town line. That's exactly what you voted for. That's what you continue to cheer lead for. His State Senate candidate SS wants to move the County Home to Curry Rd-lol. The whole rotten bunch must be removed next year. No wonder the Mayor and many council people are "exploring options". What happened to the School Bored is next going to happen to City Hall.

What about the decline in Vale/Hamilton Hill and Woodlawn? Even the MSM is starting to take off the blinders and report on the total failure of Stratton and Metrograft. They have dumped $100 Million in sales tax money into a 2 block area around Proctors and declared "renaissance". Every single City incumbent should be booted by the voters.

Schenectady is in total decline. The school system, the infrastructure, the business climate, the political climate. There is nothing positive about a $13 million City deficit BEFORE the coming State pension demands.

The other neighborhoods are bad .. but my prime concern is for Bellevue and Mont Pleasant .. I only
have so many hours in the day to worry about things.

I do own a piece of property in Rotterdam and have a financial interest in another.

As for me being a "socialist liberal" -- you gotta be joking.    But then you seem to see anybody who is more moderate than Attila the Hun as a "socialist liberal".

I have to agree with DVOR.  He is liberal, but, he is no more liberal than those Republicans that created the scheme to redistribute tax revenue to businesses in the name of economic development.  He shares that common thread with Farley and Tedisco in believing that forking over hundreds of thousands of dollars to a select few of the politically connected mult-million dollar developers, equals economic development.

It is fitting that the democrats took a government bureaucracy like Metroplex, created by the republicans, and turned it against them to sweep them out of the County in 10 short years.

They have done a "good" job?

Explain this to me, PLEASE

When Al Jurzynski was mayor and the council was 100% democrat, Mayor J proposes a trash fee.  The dems unanimously shot that down saying there woudl absolutely not be a trash fee of any sort.  The people cannot afford such a tax increase.

So, enter the dems running the city.  Stratton the democrat mayor.  The council is 100% democrat.  Mayor Stratton makes THE SAME TRASH FEE PROPOSAL that Mayor Al J did!!!!!   And the dem council unanimously votes yes, saying "the trash feel will be the saving grace of the city."

How come when Mayor Al proposed it, the dems said the people cannot afford such a tax increase, but when Mayor Stratton proposed the same, there was no mention at all about the people not being able to afford such a tax increase!

No different than using our tax dollars to give handouts downtown.

Hey, here's one to check out.  That former Hotel Foster, it was owned by a couple big time absentee landlords in the city, who were delinquent in property taxes.  Metroplex bought that hotel building for a quarter million from them.  Did the metroplex withhold any money?   That is, did metroplex withhold an amount equal to all the back taxes they owed the city?   Or did they get paid in full without being required to pay back taxes on their other properties?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

We'll find out in 2020, when the next audit will take place.  Don't expect our watchdogs in the media to investigate, or any opposition party to blow the whistle.

I am hardly a liberal -- I believe that Metroplex dollars should be spread around the County --
I particularly think that in the city Metroplex dollars are needed in the poorer neighborhoods
like Mont Pleasant and Bellevue.   Finally, I have always believed that Metroplex funds should
be governed by the PUBLICLY ELECTED County Legislature .. and not by an appointed board.

More "comeback" news----- CITY MAY DELAY PAY by Lauren Stanforth {TU} 9/10/10

The City wants to take millions of dollars away from the school district and County government next year in an effort to close a $12.8 MILLION deficit.

In Mayor Stratton's proposed budget, expected to be released in the next couple of weeks, he will tell the City Council he wants to defer a $2.8 million payment to the city school district for a year and stop paying the county about $1.5 million a year permanently-monies the City hands over to make the County and schools whole on unpaid taxes.

City Director of Administration John Paolino said there appears to be nothing stopping City Council from amending its charter and ceasing yearly payments to the County altogether.

County Attorney Chris Gardner was adamant Wednesday that it would be unlawful for the City to withhold any monies from the County.

What a joke. Stratton takes the tax lien money then withholds it from the School kids? He must not want everyone to no how bad it is before he leaves.
