What about their high salaries for only working a partial year and the way things are today there are so many aids helping them that they never bring work home as in the past and even the tests and homework are done by aides. My pension was funded by the company that I worked for and it's not a very large pension either, you couldn't live on it without SS. I also just got a post card in the mail from "Rural Parents United Against the Sex Offender Relocation Plan" telling me to vote against the politician that got the ill conceived law passed as it dump sex offenders into the rural areas. I sure hope that people understand what this law is and who wrote it and vote against him.

Good point. Too bad that when someone runs for a political office they don't have to give up the one they're currently sitting on.

I certainly hope I get this in the mail as well. And the people have just got to remember that Mr. Kosiur has done absolutely NOTHING except cost the taxpayers more and more money. First by the past tax increases and second by the upcoming probable litigation from this stupid sex offender law.

Hey, at least the county will be bringing in new tax money from all the land that will be sold as these people move. That's possibly 2 purchases per sex offendor. Sales tax at 4 1/2% for each house. And you hope, in this case, that these people actually stay in the county so you can get both ends of the tax collection.
Is the sex offender law a red herring??? Are we missing another approach?? Remember these partys still have one thing in common----power.....even if you are on the 'other side' money is still mobile.........
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

I think that Kosiur must have gotten unfavorable results in some of the pole surveys as Paul Tonko is endorsing him and saying that Kosiur has cut taxes 19 times. Please Paul show me the laws that Kosiur has voted against raising taxes, every time that I check I find it to be the opposite, he votes to raise taxes. Please no BS let's report the truth and let the people decide.
Just got a call from the "Rural Parents Against Sex Offender Relocation Plan" advising me not to vote for Ed. They're taking a proactive stance and trying to cost him as many votes as they can.
I saw the same ad on TV as you did Shadow....and I though I would choke. I, also would like to know the 19 tax increases he voted down. But if ya notice, Mr. Tonko said nothing about keeping 'our kids' safe. I guess they might be getting the message, huh? I find it hard to believe that Tonko would lie about the 19 tax increases voted down by Kosiur....but I really don't know of any he actually did vote down. All I know about is the ones he voted for! So would someone cut the BS and tell the truth here?

Littlefield said: July 19th, 2007 at 1:46 pm The Sex Offender Residency law sponsored by Ed Kosiur and passed by the Democrat controlled Schenectady County Legislature is a calculated and irresponsible move on Kosiur’s part to court voters of Schenectady county residents, particularly those who reside in the most densely populated areas of the county. The provisions of the law are ARBITRARY (2000 feet restriction), UNENFORCEABLE (read Daily Gazette article from July 18th edition in which Schenectady County Sheriff Buffardi expresses concern and doubt about law enforcements ability to enforce), and, perhaps, UNCONSITUTIONAL. If Kosiur had true courage of conviction and genuine concern for the safety of children, he would have proposed a comprehensive bill that would protect ALL children of the county that he was elected to represent and/or pressure our state government to toughen the law and increase the mandatory period of incarceration of those convicted of the heinous acts. The rural areas of the county do not have the resources (e.g., local dedicated law enforcement) to patrol the hundreds of miles of unlit roads and thousands of acres of rural landscape in which these undesireables may reoffend. The concern about the activities of sex offenders, particularly those of level 2 and 3 who have a higher rate of recidivism, is one that must be addressed at a state level. The actions of Mr. Kosiur and the Schenectady County Legislature were taken without solicitation and consideration of the concerns of the Supervisors of the towns of Schenectady County, without adequate research (the Legislature and Mr. Kosiur are only now working on the map that will indicate exclusion areas - over a month after the law was passed), and without the input of the voting public, the very residents who these politicians were elected to serve and represent (I challenge you to find a Notice of Special Session or a Public Hearing) Contrary to the assertion by Judith Dagostino, the Majority Leader of the Schenectady County Legislature in her letter to the Editor of the Times Union published on July 12th that the “adoption of this law was motivated by a concern for the safety of the children and families in our community”, the law does not protect MY children or those families in the rural areas of the county. “Kosiur’s Law” is a testament to the flawed thinking and irresponsibility of some politically motivated politicians and their lack of due diligence in researching issues and identifying the adverse impact that result from hurried changes to public policy. Kosiur’s Law will not protect the families and, specifically, the children of my community (Duanesburg). Because of this ill-advised and dangerous legislation that Mr. Kosiur sponsored, his official record of supporting tax increases on county residents and his record as a county legislator that is devoid of any substantial accomplishment, I can not support his election to higher office in New York State.
Kosiur sets record straight Updated: 7/19/2007 By: Mark Repasky
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The gloves are off. Schenectady County Legislator Ed Kosiur said he needs to set the record straight.
“Unfortunately I think my opponent's gone overboard. He's been in politics a month now and he's running distorted ads,” Kosiur said.
Some of the ads are what Kosiur calls it a cheap shot, and one that only gives part of the picture.
“What George Amedore's ad doesn't tell you is the full story behind some of those issues,” said Kosiur.
The special election for the 105th Assembly District continues to be the talk of the town. There are less than two weeks left until voters cast their ballots and the race between Ed Kosiur and George Amedore is starting to heat up as accusations fly. Our Mark Repasky has the details.
One of the issues involves are cell phones. Amedore said Kosiur voted for a 30 cent tax increase on all wireless devices. Kosiur said that money was needed to provide the county with a state of the art 911 system that helps first responders locate a caller's position.
“That 30 cent surcharge that we have got on protects myself, protects my children, protects all our community member's here,” said Kosiur.
Amedore, who claims the county could have paid for the 911 system without adding the fee, said he's not distorting anything. He said he's told Kosiur he won't run negative ads and he's still keeping his word.
“I look at the facts and figures. If it's not already documented and it's not the utmost truth of what his voting record as an elected official’s been, I don't say it because I'm not going to put words in someone's mouth or try to distort to be elected,” Amedore said.
Kosiur said voters should compare their records side by side. A jibe of his own, considering this is his opponents first run for office.
