Does Mr. Gardner's assessment of Mr. Amedore, by it's reasoning, render the Democrats who were on the Schenectady County Legislature during the period that the Republicans held the majority as "irrelevant"?
Assemblyman Amedore has been in office for only a few months. The Assembly reconvened only recently. |

Gardner too clever by half
The Gazette story Tuesday was about Schenectady’s new assemblyman, George Amedore, but it was perhaps most revealing about the county attorney, Chris Gardner. You don’t have to be a Republican to be offended at the gratuitous nastiness and dismissiveness displayed by Gardner in his comments regarding Amedore — before Amedore has really had a chance to be a legislator. Gardner is the former county Democratic chairman and, though he now fills what should be a nonpartisan — or at least less partisan — role, he has never given up that mentality. Referring to Amedore, who won a special election this year to replace Assemblyman Paul Tonko and plans to seek re-election next year, Gardner said that as a new member of the Republican Assembly minority, Amedore is “irrelevant.” So his record in office, Gardner said, “is kind of like a ‘Seinfeld’ episode: It’s about nothing.” His cultural cleverness nothwithstanding, Gardner isn’t even necessarily right about that. Has he heard about someone named Jim Tedisco? Tedisco is an Assembly minority member, but hardly irrelevant — as anyone who has followed the news about Eliot Spitzer’s driver’s license plan can tell you. And not just recently — even in his early days as an assemblyman, Tedisco was fi nding issues, such as missing children, cruelty to animals and late-budget remedies, that got the attention of other legislators and governors. Tedisco is Amedore’s mentor, and an issue that Amedore plans to focus on — blocking the state Thruway Authority’s proposed toll increases — seems very much like one that Tedisco would choose. Gardner, of course, was trying to undermine Amedore’s candidacy for next year. In doing so, he came off like the fictional Kramer, unable to control himself or his mouth. Rather than trash the other guy, he and his fellow Democrats would be better off doing what they didn’t do before: Finding a strong candidate and not saddling him or her with issues like the misguided sex-offender legislation

What is our government coming to when a TV show (much less one that's been off the air for years) is fodder for making statements about any elected official? |

FINDING A STRONG CANDIDATE? Don't make me choke on my own breath here! There is no such thing as a strong candidate in both parties! The dems are pulling it off only because the control EVERYTHING. And if their candidate loses, they just appoint him/her to an appointed position. Kinda like Mr. Ed Kosiur. |

Kinda like Mr. Ed Kosiur
His plumbing business went "down the pipes". He was appointed to the County Legislature. This past July, Kosiur was soundly defeated in his race for the New York State Assembly. If the reports are true, he will soon be awarded (i.e., appointed to) a patronage position as the Schenectady County Commissioner and Director for the Youth Bureau at a lofty salary of (up to) $85K / year with the dismissal of Youth Bureau Directory Shane Bargy, who by all accounts has done a commendable job in his position. Kosiur's unique qualifications make him the obvious choice for this position! Only in America Schenectady County |

Others have suggested that Kosiur may be in line for an appointment at the state level, though I suspect that the County position is more probable. |

Ed Kosiur will always have a position in the political arena if Suzie has her way. Kosiur will continue to suck the life out of our tax dollars since he can't make it in the private sector world. He clearly doesn't have what it takes to hold down a real job! He will never contribute to our tax base. He will just take from it....qualified or not! Pathetic! |

Campaign Filings available on the New York State Board of Elections web site (URL below) indicate that Amedore Homes contributed $150 to the Friends of Tony Jasenski campaign. I find no contributions from Amedore Homes to Carolina Lazzari's campaign. http://www.elections.state.ny......&CATEGORY_IN=ALLI am disappointed that Amedore's family business supported the dishonest and deceiptful smear campaign waged by Democrat Jasenski against Mrs. Lazzari. She represented District 4 residents with dignity, class and commitment to her constituents. Wisely, Mr. Amedore supported the campaign of Angelo Santabarbara. I would like to understand why he and his family apparently chose to withhold their support for Mrs. Lazzari. |

It would be very interesting to know what there actually was about Mr. Jasenski that prompted the Amedore family/business to contribute to his campaign. It clearly couldn't be because of his ethics and political honesty now could it? It don't make sense. |
