I say let's get things started in Rotterdam.....our own Townplex???? We need to stop the waiting game.....there is no one who is going to wipe our butts, put our pants on etc.....Mr.Suhrada must know that and so does Mr. Amedore(this not a plug for them),,but for all intense purposes they run businesses....what is running a household and family???.....anyhow I think we would have more leverage if we just did it on our own---for the most part....keep it in the papers and show the lousy state/county pandering systems what we can do......I would go as far as to say--"let's show Albany county and other surrounding counties the gem that Rotterdam is.....Schenectady county/metroplex doesn't own us they owe us.....

Sounds good in theory Senders, but where is the money coming from? We are talking many many many millions of dollars to accomplish what is needed. What we need, however, is a rally from the residents, and getting our town, county, city and state to hear us.
But again, there is that game of politics that is being played in higher places...So like I said before, as long as this town is a republican majority, surrounded by democratic townships, cities and a govenor...I don't think we have a shot! But I would love to be proven wrong!

As long as we have members on the town board or county board like Bob G that'll never vote to appropiate the amounts of money needed to fix all the problems and rebuild the towns infrastructure we'll be living in the 19th century here in Rotterdam.

But there is light at the end of this tunnel....he'll be gone soon. But then there is the issue of the County legislature. We can't have him there either!

Tell you what, I'm going to try to put together a list of questions for Mr. Amedore. If anybody has any questions they would like to have me ask him, let me know. I would like to sit down and meet him and find out a bit more about him.
I stopped by the office that Mr. Amedore has in Capitol Plaza today. I have a few lawn signs, if anybody wants one. Also, they said that the TV ads are supposed to start being aired on Monday, so get ready for all the fun. I guess both sides are opening up the big cannons and letting them fly.
If there's an address where you want a sign, just send me a PM and we can get it set up.
A home builder, George Amedore has seen firsthand how high property taxes keep families from realizing the American Dream of owning a home. He will fight to reduce property taxes by guaranteeing homeowners an annual property tax rebate check and capping local property tax increases to no more than the rate of inflation.
George Amedore believes that New York families are already overtaxed and he will oppose ALL new increases in sales, income or property taxes.
George Amedore believes the state’s gas tax should be reduced to match the tax on gas in our neighboring states – a move that would save drivers 13 cents per gallon.
SPENDING RESTRAINT
George Amedore believes state government spending should never grow faster than a family’s ability to pay for it. He promises to vote against any state budget which increases spending by more than the rate of inflation.
CREATING JOBS
George Amedore has a plan to create new local jobs by tearing down abandoned and unusable factories in Amsterdam and Schenectady, cleaning up the brownfields, and personally recruiting new employers, especially those in hi-tech, manufacturing and ethanol production, to the cleaned-up sites.
George Amedore will fight for state funding to build an ethanol facility to create hundreds of jobs, build the farming economy and reduce our reliance on foreign oil.

How do you get sewers out of that?????? And would this be in proportion to 'prevailing wages'?????????

In a state where taxes are clearly out of control and driving people — most notably young people — out of the state in droves, we need a candidate for the upcoming special election for Assembly who will work to help make this area a place where the dream of home ownership won’t be a nightmare. Our state has some of the highest taxes in the nation, and many young people who have worked hard see the dream of home ownership shattered when faced with the disturbing reality of sky-high property taxes. Schenectady County has the eighthhighest property tax rate in the nation. How can we expect young adults to stay in the area when the American dream is so difficult to reach? We need someone to be our advocate for lower taxes and affordable housing for young families. I saw George Amedore’s Assembly campaign kick-off speech on television and felt his message really connected to what I feel needs to be done. His call for lower property taxes will help young people afford home ownership. George has a proven record of commitment to helping people, having donated so much to help make our community stronger as a builder and community leader. I support George Amedore and his drive for lower property taxes, and I strongly urge my neighbors to do the same. WILL BACKES Rotterdam
