I think the sales tax issue is a smart one to explore this election season.

Your approach on taxes should be discussing ways to put money back into the residents pockets, not looking for gimmicks to put money into the town coffers. That's what democrats are for.

It is something I can work on during my administration.  I prefer to work incrementally with what is in front of me.

Take care,
Rick

In the era of Trump, the one thing I thought Republicans would have learned is that the average American isn't looking for incrementalism. They are looking for bold statements.  The people have been getting incrementally screwed for decades by politicians speaking in platitudes.

PS  By no means does this mean I support Trump.  Just my opinion on why he won. (Besides russians hacking election)

Who do you believe benefits from the County taking  $100,000,000 out of the local economy through sales tax and putting it into the hands of county legislators? Whose pockets does the $100,000,000 end up going into?

Hi bumblethru:

Thank you for replying.  One of the major underpinnings of your concern(s) has to do with our local economy.  I am interested in pursuing our responsible share of sales tax from the county.  It appears that
we receive 3-4 million dollars from our roughly 100 million received by county sales tax.  I think this is the best place to start the conversation.

Take care,
Rick

Thank you for your response.
I will pose a question to you....What do you propose to do in Rotten-dam that would make me want to move back?

As far as sales tax, or any other tax for that matter, has historically shown to benefit only two groups of people.
1. those folks who's salary and benefits are paid for with tax dollars.
2. those folks who DON'T/CAN'T work.
That's it in a nutshell.

Another question....what areas are you looking at to cut taxes/costs in Rotten-dam, and if so, what areas?
Have you considered privatizing the ambulance service?

And i will ask you again, and hopefully you can respond...what department is the lion's share of the Rotten-dam budget?

Thank you again and i wish you luck.

The Town of Rotterdam needs government for the people and the only way to succeed in this is to elect

candidates that are NOT professional politicians....the issues discussed are very important a a priority...But

keep in mind Rotterdam has not changed over the years for the citizens of this Town.  Government seems to

include only those that are "yes" people and do not stand up and say no more to the "waste" in this Town.

You get hired if you know someone and not about experience needed.   Raises for all the "waste" on

inexperience...new hires when it has been said there is no money....apartments galore ...for who?  adding

to congestion on our main roads.....it may be menial but the small things lead to the bigger issue.....the

right hand doesn't know what the left is doing....and the power is for personal agenda....

Rotterdam needs candidates NOT POLITICALLY MOTIVATED.  but want the good for the Town......

time for change and new blood....let's rid the  Town of those that think power is the answer....

VOTE        GUIDERELLI....GENTILE..DUFEK....CLEVELAND

Time to move ahead....and get rid of the past....

Define what you consider "waste".  Then describe how you will eliminate the "waste".  Then tell us how the average resident will benefit from the elimination of the "waste".

So far, the only message I see from the GOP is how they are going to get the Town their "fair share" of sales tax revenue from the County.

How about the padding of pensions by allowing people to work excessive overtime during their last 3 years of employment?  How about the 1 town service that consumes 100% of the property tax revenue?

Do your opponents running on the opposing ticket disagree with your position on getting an increase in sales tax revenue that is collected by the Democrat controlled County Legislature?  Wouldn't Democrats have a better chance at convincing their fellow travelers that infest the County Legislature to increase the % Rotterdam receives?  Nobody seems too concerned about the $100 MILLION taken out of the economy every year.

I'm beginning to believe this election is another charade where the voters get the choice of "heads I win, tails you lose".
