Driver dead after traffic stop, foot chase with Schenectady police

SCHENECTADY — A driver is dead after being taken into custody by Schenectady police Thursday afternoon following a traffic stop and foot chase.
The male driver, whose age and identity are being withheld until next of kin are notified, had complained of breathing problems and feeling dizzy while in the back seat of a police car on his way to the police department, according to a news release issued Thursday night.

By the time the police car had arrived to the department, the male was unresponsive, police said. Fire department paramedics were called to provide treatment and the male was taken by ambulance to Ellis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
State Police have been called in to investigate.

The encounter with police apparently began when at 4:34 p.m. Thursday an officer observed a traffic violation and attempted to make a stop. The driver of the vehicle pulled into a driveway on Ward Avenue and ran into a backyard, according to the release.

Police began a "brief foot pursuit" and eventually took the driver into custody behind a residence on Donald Avenue.
Sgt. Matthew Dearing said the male displayed no visible signs of distress prior to complaining of breathing problems and dizziness. He was not Tasered or shot, Dearing said, declining to comment further.

I wonder what is  the back story on  this persons health before dying.  Not that I want to trivialize this poor mans untimley death.
Resisting arrest generally increases your risk of death.  

Im like you Jack- IM wondering  what he got stopped for ? Was he going to the store to get milk for the kids ?  and told everyone  ' ill be right back ' or maybe off to  the liquor store for some old english 800 ?
In any case he thought he was going to get arrested for somthing

What kind of pressure does a person have on themselves that hey have to resist  a stupid traffic stop ?
