$13 million sends a financially painful message that sexual harassment is not acceptable and comes with consequences.
Jerk should have been fired long time ago before it was allowed to continue and become "normal" for him.
Private sector, he would have been gone long ago.

It can also be said that $13 million sends a message that accusing rich people of sexual harassment is like hitting the lotto

It can also say there is a lot of truth to the claims so we better settle and avoid having to pay even more...aka FIRE THE BASTARD OR WE'RE IN TROUBLE!!!!

Or it can say there is no truth to the claim,  and as a wealthy public figure, knowing that the media will report any accusation of sexual harassment, even false accusations, it is easier to pay the accuser than publicly defend false accusations.

Did the accusers file a sexual harassment claim with the EEOC?  There should be public record with the EEOC of the sexual harassment.

Oh yes, let's just pi$$ away $13million dollars because that's the easy way out....HAH HAH HAH!!!!
Did they file with EEOC...well, not sure if that agency applies in these cases, but even if it does, I have no clue if they filed with them.
But they obviously must have made some legal moves to have Billie boy personally settle and for FOX to settle.

So I guess what you are saying is that if someone accused you of sexual impropriety, and let's say you have $500million in your bank account...
you would be willing to give that person let's say $10million of your dollars because that's easier than defending yourself "if" the claims are false.....REALLY????  Not me!!!!
It would take a pretty stupid person to pi$$ away $10million and leave the implication of guilt on the table "if" that person is not guilty of anything.  Settling is not
the easier path....proving the lies are false in a public forum (court) is the easiest path...IF YOU ARE NOT GUILTY!!!!!!!!

No, what it does is a few things. 1) Because $10M is really nothing if you have $500M to make it 'go away' quickly and quietly. 2) Because if you drag it out into court, you'll not only keep your name being dragged in the mud by the press but nobody will want to deal with you. 3) Even if you did nothing wrong, lawyers are going to eat up that cash fast. Not only that, but this is a civil matter not a criminal one. So it's not about 'beyond a reasonable doubt'. All a judge or civil jury has to believe is 51%. That judge or jury might give her WAY more than 10M. At this point you might as well forget about your life.

I hear you....but personally I would go to court and not settle.
That's just how I'm wired if accused falsely. My reputation is worth
$10M in court costs vs. $10M in easy path rewarding lies.

People start off by being annoying.

I always wonder when does  annoying  become harassment /
