Barrett street was beachfront in the making!
I don't care if it was the Hilton or hotel bob was involved in telling me they would go through, (hire to hit me/mom with Power of the people!?) the city and Make me sell!
At least they verbally attacked /threatened me and not my mom.
They did use wrongful ways to take her property with Huge Force though..
My Mom,23 years retired federal employee.
I Would of at least of thought my mom's property would of got fairness?
Not to mention her unfair six months lockdown in a far away nursing home, in which she went in walking, came out in a wheelchair..
I am Not! A violent person..
I Do Believe in Suing though!!

(I'm getting the feeling to post the above soon!)

Work starts on new housing on Barrett Street
Sits in gap between development at Mohawk Harbor and on Union Street

SCHENECTADY -- Developers broke ground Thursday for a $3.5 million project that will transform a formerly blighted stretch of Barrett Street into a community of 15 new townhouse-style homes.

Officials who spoke at the mid-morning ceremony were excited about the prospect of creating a brand-new community in the area, which sits in a gap between development at Mohawk Harbor and projects underway on Union Street.

They also gave credit to a coalition of five banks and 16 investors for providing the financing to make the project, called Live-In Schenectady, happen. The project is not receiving a public subsidy. The Daily Gazette Company is among the investors.

The properties on which Live-In Schenectady will be built were seized over the years by the city for non-payment of taxes. The structures formerly standing there, which included three restaurants and some derelict houses, have since burned and/or were demolished. The street was once part of the city's Little Italy neighborhood and boasted several Italian restaurants, including the landmark Luigi's. Today, North Jay Street, one block west of Barrett, carries an official "Little Italy" designation.

A price range has not been set for the 15 new residences -- Mary D’Alessandro-Gilmore and Joseph Farry of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services-Blake Realtors, who will be marketing the properties, said those figures should be available in a few weeks.

David Buicko, CEO of Galesi Group, which is among the investors, said construction contracts need to be awarded before prices can be firmed up, but the prices will be affordable to working-class people.

“We’re creating homes that are affordable, not affordable housing,” he said.

Thursday’s groundbreaking was for 15 residences that will constitute phase I.

Phase II will be 10 more residences on the other side of Barrett Street. The coalition already has purchased the footprint for Phase II of Live-In Schenectady. Two derelict houses will need to be torn down to move forward with construction, but that won’t happen until all of Phase I is sold or under contract to sell, Buicko said.

The final mix of homes is expected to be 23 townhouses and two freestanding homes.

The coalition purchased all 19 properties from the city in 2016 at their assessed values -- about $200,000 -- which more than one speaker noted Thursday was enough to reduce the city property tax rate by 0.5 percent for one year. The property itself will begin generating property tax revenue after construction is complete.

Mayor Gary McCarthy said the model is an excellent one that should bring dividends to the Barrett Street area and could be duplicated elsewhere in the city. It will have a cumulative effect greater than the sum of its parts, he predicted.

The immediate surroundings of the Barrett Street site are a mix of broken pavement, weeds and timeworn older homes among gleaming new construction. The mayor said the city will help push along revitalization of the neighborhood through code enforcement -- in a collaborative manner for those who want to make their properties better, and with citations for those who don’t.

“This is a neighborhood that has a proud history,” he said.

Buicko, too, expressed hope that the presence of two dozen new homes will inspire neighbors to make their own upgrades. He said the new homes will be part of a housing association, which as part of its bylaws will prohibit owners from renting the homes out. This is to keep them invested in the neighborhood as well as in the house itself.

“The backbone of our community is our neighborhoods,” Buicko said, to applause. “We need to invite more people to live in this community.”

A leader of one of the financial institutions involved in the project, Bill Faubion, of NBT Bank, said the Live-In Schenectady project can be a model for every city in upstate New York because each one has the same three key elements: Blighted areas, business leaders and community banks.

The project's investors are: HB Housing Group, Friend of the Community, Galesi Management Group, Civco Live in Schenectady, NBT, Neil and Jane Golub, DRL Schenectady Housing, Re4orm Architecture, Precision Industrial Maintenance, Schenectady Hardware & Electric, Jackson Demolition, The Daily Gazette Company, Capital Region Gaming, Northeastern Fine Jewelry and LeChase Construction. Union College is also supporting the venture, but as a donor rather than an investor.

“I don’t think anyone hesitated when we passed the hat around,” Buicko said. “And these were not small checks.”

The banks supporting the effort are NBT, Capital Bank, Ballston Spa National Bank, Pioneer Bank and Kinderhook Bank.

Daily Gazette Publisher John DeAugustine described the money as an investment in the newspaper’s hometown.

“The Daily Gazette is excited to support an effort to build housing that is affordable and help revitalize a piece of our local community,” he said.

question - is there anyone else in the city that had this done to them?

they say that the blighted properties that have been taken over by the government had 'walk away property' owners.

that doesn't sound like your case at all.

but were there others who received the same treatment as you?

So I found my Mom's Will. Drawn up and signed and witnessed by a County court judge and his secretary.(Guido). Family court, I'm told.
Glen said for the last 5 years how important the Will was to prove my interest in my Mom's affairs  along with any property. The Will clearly states any property should go to me. With my sister getting Mom's wedding ring.
I also found a file of a property on Barrett  proving it was bought at auction that the city should of known was auctioned before the city improperly foreclosed on it.
Also Glen's secretary informed me of her locating a file of a second property on Barrett that was bought at auction that the city again should of been aware of before the city again improperly foreclosed on.

I was just wondering if it was updated regularly to account for life changes, organized records of debts, personal property and other assets that would simplify  the probate process ?

Some excellent questions. I was never too interested in what Mom wanted to leave to who. Except the rental properties in which was my doings. My Mom was my trusted partner.
I had power of attorney and health care proxy for Mom when a family member was able to pull some stunts and get Mom committed to a nursing home before it was necessary.
My not trusted lawyer did not bring up my power of attorney plus he did not bring up the back up power of attorney in his name at Mom's competency hearing. Along with the family member conveniently didn't bring up the copy of Mom's Will that they were given.
According to my tell me one thing, then another lawyer. The Will showing me as executor along with power of attorney would show that Mom trusted me with taking care of her affairs and that I should have been appointed as her legal guardian. Unfortunately after Mom's unfair 6 months lockdown. It did a number on her to the point to where she needed the care of a nursing home.
It doesn't matter what's in the Will now. Because what little my Mom has the nursing home gets. I would like to push to be appointed executor as Mom's Will states. If not only because it was Mom's wishes.
Besides my lawyer telling me different things and giving me false promises on what he would do.

The things the Sheeple  People Fail to realize.
After being threatened. We Will go through the city and Make us sell!
My tax payment was wrongfully ordered sent back.
Then a abandonment trial on one property and Eminent domain on several vacant lots. To where false non payment of taxes was needed and used as evidence to take properties.
Including never getting an Appeal date for the Eminent domain in which my lawyer swears he remembers filing for and that he will look into.

And yes, wrongfully messing with our assets did effect our business and Family.

I posted this in the gazette this past week after reading another article in the gazette, with someone's comment posted about the City Stealing Property for Unpaid Taxes.

David Bianchi,
'They' also 'Steal' vacant land in the 'Wanted' downtown area by Wrongfully ordering Taxes payed in full to be Sent Back in order to give the land cheaply to a developer. With The Powers involved not a Lawyer or Court Will Stand up to 'Them'!    (end of post)

I had 3 different Law Firms Represent my Mother and I. They All Said, " Our Constitutional Rights were Violated." Recently, I was told from a lawyer that represented us "That it Happens All the time. In cities All Over. That Developers go through the cities to 'Take Land'. That I Need to get a Law Firm Out of the area."
The Problem is of the 3 Law firms. One was local, One from Albany, and One from N.Y.C.
With my recent comment in the gazette. I tried to keep it short and to the point. There was more involved, like the First threat , 'We Will go through the City and just take the land.'
Followed by a Abandonment posting on one of the parcels that had a building on it. In which I went down to city hall the morning it was posted and told them the property wasn't abandoned. That it was checked on daily and properly secured. I was told it must be about the the unpaid taxes and that I need to contact the cities tax department. Then, I was told by the cities tax department that I needed to contact the tax lien company and make an agreement to pay them. Which I did right away. I had contracts from the tax lien company with the tax lien company knowing that I was the caretaker of the properties and not the owner. Then, when I went back to the Tax department at city hall. They told me that they got a call from upstairs. That I needed to talk to the legal department. That the city tax department was notified by the city's Legal department not to accept any payments from me. When I went upstairs to the legal department. The city attorney told me payment wasn't allowed because I had to deal with the tax lien company first. I informed them that I did. And had a agreement contract with a payment made to the tax lien company that bought the tax liens from the city. Then the city attorney told me ,"We will see about that!" Then 3 days later the tax tax lien company sent me an e-mail on how they were ordered by the the city to send back my payments. In which I had a payment agreement on the parcel with a building on it that was posted for abandonment. And also had a contract and made a payment in full on several vacant lots that I kept mowed. That payment was also ordered sent back at the same time. In which down the road, Eminent Domain was done on the vacant lots. With nonpayment of Taxes being an issue. Along with the vacant lots being blight.
So first came the Abandonment trial.
In which at the time of the Abandonment trial the County Court judge stated, "He didn't care if I made a payment agreement with the tax lien company and payment was wrongfully ordered sent back or not."
Then immediately outside the courtroom of the Abandonment trial. I was approached by the attorney the city hired to represent them at that trial and asked if I wanted to sell the several vacant lots my family had in the same area. When I said,"No!" I was told by that attorney that," We Will Just Make You Sell them too." These are the same vacant lots with no buildings on them that I kept mowed and that the city ordered the tax lien company to send back my payment made in full with contracts on these several parcels of land. That the city used as a reason to do Eminent domain on these vacant lots. Along with the city calling the vacant lots blight in which I kept mowed. Along with the 17 apartments that were also owned by my mother and I separately on the same streets Barrett st. and Seminary Place within the same two blocks.
Not only did my local attorney tell me over and over that he filed for an Appeal for the Eminent Domain. And that he would look into it for why there was no Appeal date given in court. Along with in the beginning, He would file in Federal court. Then changed to he couldn't file in Federal court and also be a witness. To, he wasn't licensed to file in Federal court. Back to he could and would file in Federal court. Back to in the last year that he would file ,then he couldn't file. But he would assist me to file myself. Promising every week last year for several months to check back with him the next week . That he would have something written up to assist me in filing in Federal court myself. That I could file for my Constitutional Rights being violated by the City Wrongfully Ordering my Tax payments to the Tax lien company being sent back. Along with the City ordering its tax department to not accept any payments from me involving these parcels. Along with Defamation for the City stating to the local newspaper that my payment to the tax lien company was ordered sent back because I was not the owner. Even though my payment was made in full on the vacant lots involved in the Eminent Domain. Along with I had Power of Attorney at that time and was the One that the City brought to court for the the Abandonment trial. In which at the Abandonment trial it was stopped half way through for the Power of Attorney to be produced. That my local attorney had his secretary bring to the court. So that the Abandonment trial could be continued.
The 3 Law firms that I've had. All told me in the beginning that the City can't get away with it. Made False promises on How They Wouldn't Allow it. Yet, When it came time for them to Speak Up! Or File in Court. They Did Nothing!
So ya, it's been a long time. But the attorneys I had. All know I speak the truth, Along with the City of Schenectady's full time attorney and the at the time cities Abandonment trial hired attorney.
At this point I don't expect much.. If Only, Some How? Some Way? To Have My day in Federal Court. Jury Trial would be preferred..

Leggs you are in my prayers for sure.  I said this a long time ago but I am sure no one remembers. For some reason folks never hear me when I speak. Grin

The worst thing that could ever happen in this city was to allow Gary McCarthy to become mayor andfor some very serious reasons.
1. He has an in with the communications TV systems via his relationships with Philip Morris and TW/Spectrum cable systems.
2. He is extremely well networked in law enforcement
3. He would be in a position to use Federal and State means to push the people around in this city.

I still am waiting to see the video's from that Eastern Ave fiasco with him.  Notice the person overseeing that case was someone who actually contributed to his campaigns.  There are cams all up and down Eastern Ave that recorded that event but the DA in charge of investigations it appears never introduced or squashed that evidence and the police officers at the station house were between a rock and a hard place.

There will be a day justice is served and the machine will go down. I just hope and pray we do not lose any lives while the machine plays their viscous games.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.  You appear to me to be a man of great character but again the machine in this city is a scary bunch of folks, well connected (Chicago), I just pray we can survive their crap.

Schenectady is a great city with much to be proud of. It is time for the people to unite. men, women, black and white, gay and straight.  Vote this crap out of office and lets get in some honest men an women who can save our city.

$3.5 Million Barrett Street housing project to be put out to bid after delays
Developer said project was intentionally delayed

SCHENECTADY -- Construction work for a $3.5 million housing project on Barrett Street for which ground was broken last July will soon be put out for bid, according to one of the project's developers.

David Buicko, CEO of Galesi Group, which is one of the 16 investors involved in the Live-In Schenectady project, said the plan to build affordable townhouse-style homes is moving along. But not much has happened since ground was broken for the effort.

That was intentional, Buicko said. The hope was to start pouring concrete foundations before the winter came. Since that didn’t happen, Buicko said project managers delayed construction to avoid working on the development in the winter when construction costs are higher.

“In a perfect world, we should have started last month, but we all have real jobs, too,” Buicko said. “So, with stuff going on at Mohawk Harbor and stuff like that, we decided to start pushing it this month.”

The Barrett Street parcels on which Live-In Schenectady will be built were seized by the city for unpaid taxes. Many of the homes were either burned or demolished.

The project is expected to be done in phases, with the first phase comprising 15 new homes. The second phase will include another 10 residences built on the opposite side of Barrett Street.

The land for the project was purchased by a group of investors: HB Housing Group, Friend of the Community, Galesi Management Group, Civco Live in Schenectady, NBT, Neil and Jane Golub, DRL Schenectady Housing, Re4om Architecture, Precision Industrial Maintenance, Schenectady Hardware & Electric, Jackson Demolition, Capital Region Gaming, Northeastern Fine Jewelry and LeChase Construction.

Union College has put money into the project, but only as a donor, not an investor.

The Daily Gazette Co. is also an investor in the project, and five banks are involved in financing the work, including Capital Bank, NBT, Ballston Spa National Bank, Pioneer Bank and Kinderhook Bank.

Mary D’Alessandro-Gilmore and Joseph Farry of Berkshire Hathaway Homeservices-Blake Realtors will be working together to market the properties.

D’Alessandro-Gilmore said the delays with the project were necessary in order to make the homes affordable. The plan is to keep the homes in the $200,000 price range, and D’Alessandro-Gilmore said there have already been inquiries by people looking to purchase.

“We want to make it perfect,” D’Alessandro-Gilmore said. “So, in order to do that, sometimes it takes longer.”

Buicko said the building plans have been submitted to the city and are awaiting approval. The project has also been submitted to the state Attorney General’s office for approval, since the project will include a homeowner’s association, but Buicko said that won’t delay building the homes. The homeowner's association approval is only necessary to sell them.

The hope, Buicko said, is to start pouring the foundation for first six of the units in the next couple of weeks.

More Lies from the Big Guys! Land Seized For Unpaid Taxes?! More like, Taxes payed to a Tax Lien Company, American Tax Funding Illegally Ordered by Someone from City Hall to Be Sent Back! Above The Law! Payment Was Made in Full! The City lied and said the Tax Payment was Ordered Sent Back because I was not the owner, and with that the Tax Amount Owed was Not Allowed to be made in payments because I was not the owner. When again, on the several lots seized by Eminent Domain, I Made the payment of the Tax amount owed paid in Full, not a partial payment! Along with even though the Tax payment was Wrongfully ordered sent back for the sole reason to be added to the evidence of why the City was to follow with an Abandonment trial on one parcel and Eminent Domain on several more adjoining parcels.
All this followed in which started when I was contacted from an Attorney to sell them the land or they would just go through the City and Take it! In which also I had Power of Attorney for the land owner (my Mom) at that time. In which also I was the one that was allowed the one to be brought to court for an Abandonment trial with me being the one that was allowed to be present without my Mom having to be present because of the Power of Attorney I had for her that was produced at the Abandonment trial for a house on Barrett st. that was adjoining to the lots on Seminary place. In which I kept the house secured and checked on daily.
Again, All this came from which started with the first threat. Followed by a second threat from an Attorney that represented the City immediately following the Abandonment trial outside the courtroom, in which the Attorney for the City said to me," Now do I want to sell them the several lots on Seminary place?" With my reply of,"No!" I was told by that Attorney." Then We Will Just Go through the City and Take them too!"
Joint Commission on Public Ethics, Attorney General. I Wish I could have faith in them! Unfortunately with the grossly inadequate representation, ineffective counsel. In which my Mother and I had. Our local Attorney, Our Bankruptcy Attorney,( in which we both filed for bankruptcy after the illegally ordered sent back Tax payment!) in which we both filed to stop the City from taking our land. Along with the Eminent Domain Attorney that we obtained.(in which the Eminent Domain was done on the Seminary place lots, after the second threat from the City Attorney, that they Will Just Take Them too!)
With All 3 of the Law firms telling me that Our Rights Were Clearly Violated with The City Wrongfully Ordering my Tax payment sent back! Yet, the Attorneys did Nothing about it!
I Respect the Investors involved. And Yes, it is nice to see the neighborhoods rebuilt when needed. But Abuse of Power! Above the Law! With Land Ownership, We Have No Rights When Involving Giant Organizations?!
It's been several years now. With Our Local Attorney putting us off by going back and forth to how he would file in Federal Court. To how he wouldn't or couldn't. My Mom has since passed away. Our Assets have dwindled since the City started this Wrongfully taking this land on Barrett st. and several lots on Seminary place.
With One Attorney recently telling me that he doesn't do litigation any more. But should I be able to have this matter brought to court and Win. That also with damages awarded. That the Land Wrongfully Taken Could be Returned to My Mother's Estate.
If The Gazette or Any Attorneys that would like to possibly represent me. They can contact me to investigate this matter and see my proof. Please contact me on my Facebook page. You can also google, (Schenectady gate) to where I made a post on a local forum. http://rotterdamny.info/m-1458405312/
