Inmate at Schenectady County Jail found unresponsive, dies after failed recovery efforts

Schenectady County Jail
SCHENECTADY, NY (NEWS10) – Around 7:45 Sunday morning, an inmate at the Schenectady County Correctional Facility was found unresponsive in his cell.

Officers immediately applied CPR and notified the department’s medical staff.

Paramedics were called to the jail but recovery efforts were unsuccessful.

The deceased was taken to Ellis Hospital for pending a postmortem exam.

The inmates name is being withheld awaiting notification of next of kin.

More details will be released as they become available.
