Any ways to look up the final count of absentee ballots for the city of Sch'dy?  I know they are saying Perazzo will retain her seat but wondering who
had the top count. Thanks.

Just checked the Board of Elections website.  They still haven't posted the certified election results.  They just have the last counts from Election night,

George Amedore & Christian Klueg for NYS Senate 2016
Pete Vroman for State Assembly 2016

True.  I mean really, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever it should take this long.  So sure, they have to look at the ballot envelope and make sure the person didn't vote in person.  They don't even have to compare signatures because people may have developed arthritis or parkinsons so the signature does not look like it did the last time when they were healthier.

And they don't have to count each checkmark.  They merely have to put it in the machine just like we do on election day.

Didn't Albany city have something like 700 absentee ballots and the news story on that one was the school building vote, so they have already counted those 700 some ballots and the results are in already.

Apparently not much competence at the Schenectady election board.

There are state laws that dictate how and when absentee ballots are counted.

We are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.   Funny how that works.

It can take a while if there are questions about the validity of an absentee ballot(s).

Um, there are no questions about the validity of the absentee ballot!   The ONLY thing that can be checked for validity is the ENVELOPE in which the ballot is placed.  Everything on those envelopes is pre-printed.  The ballot envelope is signed and dated.  They cannot dispute the validity of the signature.

Why does it take so very long to count just a 107 votes in Schenectady but it took only a short time to count over 700 votes in Albany?

Yours is a cop out excuse for incompetence at the Board of Elections.  Just like those poll workers didn't get notified until about two week before election day that they were working.  Just like the board conveniently failed to notify Hull's group about that acceptance issue but the board DID make such notification to his opposition.

I've helped my father-in-law in Schenectady with his absentee ballot some years ago.  His address was the same.  They CANNOT dispute the validity of a ballot based on the signature because the FACT is that peoples' handwriting changes, especially the elderly.

A voter goes in person to vote, they to go the table and they sign the book.  They are given the ballot which the voter goes to fill out in private.  Then in private we--the voters--put the ballot in the scanner.

For absentee ballots, the signature on the envelope is basically the same as an in-person voter signing the book.  So after election day it' just checking to be sure the person didn't vote in person, and if the voter didn't, then open up the envelope, take the ballot out, put it through the scanner, just like what happens on election day.

Address questions?  Well, do the workers require verification of a voters address when someone comes in to vote?  NO.  You go to the table and tell yoru address.  If it matches that what's in the book, no one asks you for your license or anything else with your address on it.  Same with absentee voters.  "Hi I'm John Smith, I'm homebound, please send me an absentee ballot, I live at XXX, the same place I've always been."  The absentee ballot ENVELOPE will have that address.  Are those at the board that are doing the "checking" going to start looking for proof of the absentee voter's address?  NO.

Do workers from the board go to voters' homes to check whether they are homebound?  If someone was scheduled for surgery, does the board contact the hospital to make sure that the claim that the person would in the hospital is true (HA HA, HIPPA would prohibit a hospital or any medical provider from answering such a question).  Oh maybe the board worker goes to the person's home and requires them to undress and take the bandage off to show the sutures from having heart surgery?
