FYI: Nayboob is not a word

Your're right... I did a google search on Nayboob and found only two types of references in the first 20 or so hits...one from this board and the other type(s), which are more numerous, from  Porn sites....

That might tell you all that you want to know....or not

FYI  ------>  Yes -- it is a word. It has letters, can be used in a sentence and means something.

I have been using it for over 5 years now.   First, you need to look up the phrase "nattering nabobs of negativity."   Then, you need to know that I took that phrase and turned it into "nayboobs" -- which is my term for folks who are both constantly negative and - seemingly -  more ignorant than the average rock.

BTW - Did you graduate from one of those schools where they gave all the kids trophies for showing up and gold stars for not forgetting how to use a bathroom every day?

LOL! Really? Ignorant?

No MC, they aren't ignorant. You are the one who is ignorant because you just don't get it.

Tenants don't give a crap about rent, most of them anyway. Why should they? It's mostly subsidized now. Why should they give a sh*t about how much rent is or how much taxes are or why mr landlord raises da rent?

Galesi ? Ask any Schenectady pubbie who this person is, let alone the organization. No fu^kin clue, nor do they care, since it doesn't directly affect them.

Anybody who gave a sh^t is GONE!

Like everyone else that saw what was coming, we sold our homes that we bought for $100k back in 2001 for $30k in 2012 and we GOT THE F^CK OUT!

Renters don't care about rent - that is proof they ARE ignorant.   They do not understand the connection of increases in rent to the increase in taxes to their landlords, and the renters do not understand that the landlords are paying the taxes of buildings owned by the wealthy and politically connected downtown.

Others, i.e., homeowners, ARE ignorant -- you say people don't know who Galesi is, actually it's not the person exactly but the company -- then the people do not know that they are paying higher taxes in order to pay the taxes of this billion dollar Galesi Company.   And because they don't know that they are paying Galesi's taxes, they are ignorant.

People ARE ignorant and that is PROVEN by the FACT that they do not realize how their homes have fallen in value.  The equalization rate in the late 1990's was never more than maybe 108% and people knew their home values had fallen, and they grieved their assessment by the THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS.   The past two years, the FACT that the equalization rate exceeds 120%, and the FACT that the city is the highest over-assessed  city in the whole state of New York yet only a few hundred people grieved PROVES that people ARE ignorant.

How can ANYONE read on their tax bill "Equalization Rate 121%" and read the words "your assessment value is" and "your market value is" and not know that their home value is massively fallen????   It's because people ARE ignorant.  Most probably don't even READ the tax bill, other than the "total tax."

The people ARE ignorant because they read in the paper that the mayor is quoted as saying, in reference to his refusal to reassess, that it has to do with the tax levy, and that there must be fairness in taxes and the mayor "believes the taxes are fair."   For ANYONE in the city of Schenectady to believe the mayor when the mayor states "the taxes are fair," proves that people are totally ignorant.  For anyone to think that it is fair for them to have a house valued at $100,000 but have their tax bills calculated on a fake value of $150,000 while another person has a house valued at $80,000 and pays taxes valued at a fake value of $90,000, and then for a third person to have a house valued at $140,000 but have their taxes calculated at a fake value of $90,000 is more than enough proof that shows how ignorant they are.

Many people really like Schenectady.  They may have been living in a house that they bought and personalized to make their own (good example might be in Woodlawn, some of Bellevue, and around the high school) and may have nice neighbors.  They may have bought for $100,000 and put in $75,000 over 20 years and if they moved out of the city to another location, they won't have their personalized house unless they buy for $250,000 and spend $100,000 because unlike you, they don't have $70,000 to throw away, obviously you are very rich to lose that much money, but not trying to get into that.

People like the city and want to stay and see pretty buildings downtown.  The vast majority of people do not know that they have paid for the gin mills out of their pocket.  The vast majority just do not make the connection when McCarthy says, about the old DSS building, that the city got money from the federal government to demo it, and that "it is a loan the city will pay back."

A couple perfect examples of ignorance in that the people in the city do not realize that it is THEIR money out of THEIR pockets that will pay for DSS demo are these:

In the last 1990's the city school district wanted to build the swimming pool and the school district, for the little publicity they provided, said "it will not cost the taxpayers any money because the state is paying for it."   So the people of the city, being ignorant, voted yes for the pool because THEY believe THEY are not paying for it, i.e., the state is paying for it.

A more current example is yesterday, in Albany, the proposal to rebuild a (relatively young building) the high school, there were many comments saying "the state will pay" --I know the news also said $77 increase in taxes, but people most likely it's a one time $77, and "the state will pay."

People ARE ignorant.   "The city will pay for it."   "The state will pay for it."

From where does the city and the state get the money "to pay for it."    ????

People ARE ignorant in that they do not make the connection that the city and the state get the money "to pay for it" from the pockets of the people, therefore the people, the homeowners are paying for the school, the pool, and the demo of a building owned by a billion dollar company that can more than afford to pay for the demo itself.

Oh yes, it's so sad to try to educate people about the truth about how money is stolen from them.  It's so sad to educate people that their home values are falling, it's so sad to educate people that they are the highest taxed people in the state.

It's so said to inform the ignorant that metroplex connected cronies are tax deadbeats.   Yes DV, it's so sad and pathetic to tell people what YOU said:

... the deadbeats ... who haven't paid their property taxes and thus forcing everyone else to pay more

YOU SAID IT  I am merely using YOUR WORDS .
The deadbeats who haven't paid their taxes forcing everyone else to pay more.   YES it's so pathetic to educate the people of the city that a metroplex connected architect and his board of assessment member wife are "forcing everyone else to pay more."

Oh, do YOU think it's OK that the a board or assessment member who refuses to reduce assessments is forcing everyone else to pay more taxes because she and her metroplex hubby don't pay their taxes?

Do YOU, DV, think the mayor is doing the right thing by "forcing others" to pay the taxes of an assessment board member THAT HE HIMSELF APPOINTED????   Is that acceptable?   Is it DV?????    You REALLY think the McCarthy is worthy of being mayor when he goes after average people who have a little bit of peeling paint but overlooks the tax delinquency of one of his cronies?   Is McCarthy worth of being mayor when he goes after the average people for their tax delinquencies but overlooks the tax delinquency of one of his cronies?

To educate you, DV, when one grieves one's assessment, and wins, the result is lower taxes.  Do you think it's fair for homeowners (who pay the highest taxes around) to have their grievances heard by a political crony of the mayor who is tax delinquent?

Once again, do your customary yawn, because you know dang well that if you say it is OK for political cronies to be overlooked on tax delinquency, then that will prove that you are the fool that everyone knows you are.

But if you do respond that it is not fair for the mayor to overlook the tax delinquency of his cronies, then you would be acknowledging  that I am right and you can't handle the fact that I am right and speak the truth that McCarthy is not fit to be mayor.

DV can produce absolutely no evidence, NOT ONE IOTA OF REAL EVIDENCE that "nayboob" is a real word.

He uses that wild imagination of his, and puts some letters together, and then he THINKS claims it's a real word.

Yes, that wild imagination of his, that same wild imagination that sees the EVIDENCE of falling home values in the city, elimination of city services combined with higher taxes, the city being the highest over-assessed city in the whole state of NY, and a mayor refusal to obey the laws of the state of NY, and DV says that those FACTS mean the city is improving - yes, he has the wildest imagination on the face of the earth.

Children have imaginations, normal adults see and acknowledge reality.    But then, a 50+ year old who has not yet grown up into a normal independent adult, one who has spent his whole adult years (well at least back to 1992) living with "mama" (two of them at that), is still a child with an imagination

Doesn't the owner of this BB care that one user is constantly throwing personal attacks against another?  Do they condone it?

DVOR - you're questioning my education when you are the one using words that do not exist and resorting to childish insults, and references to handicapped and disabled people.

One good rule of thumb to follow on these boards - talk to the person like yor would if you were speaking with them face to face.  And, speak as if you were being interviewed on the evening news - the point being, everyone would be able to attribute the remark to you personally. I won't discuss anything else with you - there's nothing to be gained

That should go for the personal attacks being lobbed by one BB member, towards another.  Both hide behind user names, and the BB owner lets this continue.

Crazy.
