LOL.....You just made me go out and look at my dish.

I can't see why you couldn't if you could figure out a way to mount it to the back of the dish.

A little creative wire mesh heater system plugged into 120v (or solar powered)...hhhmmmmmm!

We have a generator so our dish worked during power failures.

We have had Directv for exactly 25 months.

My wife said we have never lost service during even the worst storms for more than a minute or a few at the most.

On the 25th month they conveniently added $10 to the equipment price bringing the bill up to $103 a month.

Try a length of gutter heat tape on the back of the disk easy to find and meant to be placed in the elements.

good idea!

Maybe not!
Quoted Text
Typical heat tape burns electricity at six to nine watts per foot per hour.
That means each 100 feet of heat tape operating 24/7 can translate to an added monthly cost of $41 to $62 to operate heat tape.

Yeah but you only need about 4-5 feet in a circular pattern on the back and only turn it on long enough to melt the snow. Plus I would think leaving it plugged in would cause a disturbance in the force reception.

Correct,  electromagnetic interference.

It's still an antenna, even though it's shaped like a dish.
