Yep, the mayor and his team are doing a wonderful job in the city,  take from the taxpayers, dole out the money to all their downtown gin mills and naturally and this result was bound to happen.

And look, it took aid from outside the city to help out, the mayor and plex take the taxpayers money and give it to their rich cronies and is this no money to adequately staff the city police dept OR is it that there was so much other crime calls throughout the rest of the city that the other city cops were too busy to respond to this.

Suspect arrested after assault leaves Schenectady officer hospitalized

SCHENECTADY -- The Schenectady Police Department has made an arrest this morning, following an early-morning assault that left one officer in the hospital with a skull fracture.

Lt. mark McCracken reports that Patrolman Mark Weekes saw two individuals walking on Broadway near State Street shortly after 2 a.m., and that one of them appeared to be intoxicated, dancing in the roadway with a traffic cone. Weekes instructed the individual, James D. Hilton, 32, of Glens Falls, to return the cone and walk on the sidewalk.

A few minutes later, Weekes saw Hilton again, walking west on State Street and still carrying the cone. When he attempted to take Hilton into custody, the interaction became physical. MCCracken said Hilton threw Weekes over his shoulder and then punched him repeatedly until Weekes lost consciousness.

A K9 unit tracked Hilton from the scene to a dumpster where he was found nhiding.

Hilton is charged with one count of Assault on a Police Officer, a Class C felony, and one count of Resisting Arrest, a misdemeanor.

Hilton was arraigned and remanded without bail to the Schenectady County Sheriff's Department jail. He is due back in court Monday, Aug. 3.

Weekes remains hospitalized with a skull fracture. How long he will remain there, and when he will be able to return to work, are not clear at this time.

McCracken thanked the Glenville, Rotterdam and Scotia Police Departments, as well as the Schenectady County Sheriff's Department, for their aid.

So is McCarthy worthy of being re-elected?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

so again...........if mcmayor (who I think is horrible for other reasons) gets the boot and a rep is elected.....is that going to change violent behavior?

again.....are these folks getting drunk, dancing in the streets and assaulting another person because of METROPLEX/GILLEN????

Lets be a little realistic here....k?

Yes, the guy from Glens Falls was here dancing drunk in the street due to Metroplex/Gillen. Aren't they the ones who made the decision that Schenectady's greatest need was to have a 'revitalized' downtown nightlife, and isn't that why the guy came here? Be careful what you wish for, Saratoga Springshas a vibrant bar scene, and they have problems with violence to go with it.
What might be different with different leadership, is that the police might not have been spread so thin that poor patrolman Weeks tried to handle this himself. We have violent males coming to Schenectady lured here by government largesse, in one instance, direct welfare payments, in the other, corporate welfare.

violent corrupt behavior = more cops, higher wages and just a larger union voting block for the political party that will bend over for them.
the drug dealers know it.
the robbers know it.
the shooters know it.
cops are already the bulk of the tax budget....how much safer are you? NOT!!
there is still violence and will continue to escalate no matter what political party is in office or how many cops are on the taxpayer dole.

Schenectady cops are the equivalent to a custodial crew....they clean up the mess...
I was coming home Saturday night, I had a car cut me off on 890 AND on Broadway as he was leaving Weaver street ( SAME CAR)
The driver then proceeded to blow through the traffic light at Broadway and Congress...badly...right in front of a squad car that was on Congress waiting to get on Broadway... the officer did nothing... my son and I were stunned...
