of change and human's will learn and work differently...the future is coming.....

no more cogs and no more square pegs in round holes.

Of course they are degreed jobs. People need to quit bitchin about their low pay and min wage jobs and
go get a degree and better yourself. Unfortunately too many are too lazy to work for it and just want
to take without putting forth efforts. Why do you think we lag so far behind Middle Eastern, Asian and
even European education???? That's a contributor to why we are falling behind in the work environment.

First, I don't believe everyone needs a College degree to  advance in life,
but too many drop out and do nothing beyond a high school degree.  Go to vocational
school, do something more with yourself than just ending it at 12th grade. Get a GED
I you don't have a high school degree.  Even those levels of education will get you
into jobs that will pay better than min wage and offer advancement.

Second, yes, education is expensive. But there are ways....go to a community college
and get an AA degree.  Use that to get a good job with intention of continuing education
at night, or after you've saved some money, or maybe with employer assisted education.

Yes, we are not all geared that way...and those are the ones that b**ch (sorry). I will add
that many without degrees still have the drive and strive to advance...the drive is there and they look for a way.

Yes, there will always be the ones that fall through the cracks, because of layoffs,
company moves, company failures, etc.  We have no power over those issues.  We only
have power over ourselves and our desire to advance or status quo.

I agree Joe....my point is that everyone is all uppity about what EVERYONE should do to 'get ahead'....get ahead of what?

We complain about people being 'rich' (personal definitions held by everyone) and yet continue to pay exorbitant ticket prices for
baseball/football games to watch millionaires(yes at that point they are) play a game....we go to NASCAR races and watch millionaires
burn through fuel and tires (all oil based) while complaining about gas prices/oil prices/heating prices etc.....

I think we have lost sight of where the country and the future come together to continue the ride.....does a maid working in a 5 star hotel
deserve to make what a nascar driver makes or does the maid just get all giddy with a celebrity sighting and say "oh boy, this job is
worth it's weight in gold" at $15/hour?

Fickle as we are we fail to celebrate the differences in humans.

Some homeless people, no matter how much we try to house them (because that's more normal we say) don't know how/why it gets
done....but we like to project our 'normal' onto other people....

yes, these jobs are a great chance for people...but think of the ENTIRE population.....how many people can become NFL players
MLB players, nascar drivers etc etc...

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

thank God, there are some lazy a$$ folks out there.
if EVERYONE was geared toward employment............the unemployment rate would be well over 50%!

THERE ARE NO JOBS.....PERIOD!!!

no one explained your claim to GE and AMS.  Will be hiring 1,500-2,000 in Utica area.
"AVERAGE" salary will be $91k. That is not a part time/temp job.

well great for Utica....but that is just a very very small drop in the bucket when there are almost 100M folks out of work nationwide.

Oh puleeeze...just excuses! There are not enough jobs to give 100% employment, but there are
jobs. It's just so much easier to collect taxpayer funded checks and not do anything or it...except b**ch.

You keep saying MOVE if you're not happy...well same goes for work...MOVE!!!
If you have qualifications, then apply for those jobs in Utica and MOVE!!!!
Nah....they like their government dole!

Bullshit!

If your're income qualified, you can get EOC welding training FOR FREE!
The Industry is dying for the them... My cousins kid just completed the program and got hired on the spot...he ended up getting fired because he wasn't moving out pieces fast enough...not surprised, he's challenged to say the least... but he ends up with another welding job a week later.

Same thing goes for Truck drivers, and electricians...the need is there... you have to be ready and willing to WORK and RELOCATE if necessary..

I absolutely agree with you.
my point is that we know many folks who have 4 year degrees and have not found gainful employment.
some HAVE moved.....and some have actually gone back to college for a degree in another field.

but not ALL folks are on the government dole because they want to......some yes...but not all.

and to your point....if there were enough jobs for every single able bodied person in this country....then they should be denied unemployment/welfare benefits.

college was sold as a golden egg to get out of the 'dirty trades'....remember the fight of parents working hours and hours so their kids
wouldn't have to have a sh!tty job like them, so that they could have white collar jobs?

well, I'd say we've come to the end of way to many college idiots with way to much PC lingo and no sweat or callouses....

let's all just admit it...no one wants to sweat all day working for someone else to earn some obscure trading tool called money.

the 'dirty jobs' have been looked down upon for a few decades now.....

There will always by people who just won't work for others, won't live in a government regulated or taxed dwelling, or follow any rules other than their own moral compass.

Those people are nearly extinct, their eradication having started over 300 years ago.

Independence, and being strong willed, has become something that people ridicule and demonize.

The collective taxes taken from the people should be used make certain that all persons are provided or at least offered, basic necessities.

Never once was it ever in the Constitution, that the government can forcibly regulate people into conformity.

If you don't want to the government to make sure the needs of all are met, than the government must deregulate and commerce and business to allow these people to start their own businesses or perform services of their choice for others.

Millionaires can open casinos, but homeless guys are beaten, arrested or killed for for selling loosies.

Why shouldn't all people have equal business opportunity, not just the government licensed corporate slave owners?

The more that you stack the deck in favor of big money, the more you will always have people who choose to  just fuccking give up.

Guys shooting craps behind Chubbies are criminals, but downtown they eagerly await government licensed gambling.

Blame the homeless, blame the poor, blame those who can't hire layers and accountants to manage them mowing some lawns, running some errands or shoveling snow for people.

The social engineers are never at fault.

When you make everything that people do to make money illegal, or regulated to the point where only the rich can afford the required, permits, licenses, lawyers and accountants  to start a business, people will seek out other ways to survive.

Karl Marx would be proud to see the government who manged to institute proxy Socialism in the US, the only difference from full fledged Socialism being that the government didn't take ownership of all the businesses, just their wealthy contributor proxy licensed friends did.

Corporate Socialism works by taxpayers donating capital, while the corporate owners keep the profits.

Democrats or Republicans don't matter, they just pick different corporations to divert tax dollars to.

Plus the never ending increase in the size of the government, and the amount of new regulations, at every level.

the free hippies believe the government church is not church and call it progressive.....hahahahahahahahahahaha

as long as the government 'meets everyone's needs' as per their definition then they no longer have the same establishment their parents
had that they 'fought' against.......but they have had the reigns

they may not like Trump but no one liked them in the 60's.......

And the homeowners in the city will never get repaid for what they had to pay him.   Cheer cheer for the mayor who is doing such a great job in the city,  causing the tax base to fall, home values to fall, taxes to rise, and give handouts to the rich to sometimes declare bankruptcy.

For those that say the city is improving, wouldn't it be nice if they would state WHAT is improving and FOR WHOM it is improving?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
