The walmart in ROTTENdam ain't doing that good anyway.
that comes right from the 'top' at the store.
also.....from what I understand, there can never be a full market super center in Hannaford plaza because of Hannaford.
I believe that was in the original contract.
as far as the west end....there is no logical place EXCEPT.....by I88.
if that ever happens....say goodbye to the west end.

I'll be long gone by then... House goes up for sale in a little less than two years..
If it doesn't sell, I'll rent it until it does and end up with a little coin monthly...

Thats funny, they always rank among the top in the district for bonuses, based on previous year/quarter sales, $ of shrink and profitability.  In fact, the bonues at the Altamont Ave store put Scotia, Amsterdam and Colonie to shame on a regular basis.

And heh - "top of the store" - care to tell us HER name?

of course their 'shrink' is down.....the place is all but dead most of the time.

oh, sorry....I didn't mention 'what store' passed on that info.

If the store is one of the top ones in the district for sales and profitability, your contention that it is "dead most of the time" is baseless.

they are NO WHERE NEAR as busy as they use to be....NO WHERE NEAR!!!

cashiers standing around....waiting for  a customer. (JUST ASK THE CASHIERS HOW BUSY THEY ARE)

sure they are 'busier' around holiday time...just like every other place....but ROTTENdam is dead!!!

I hope the "cashier" wasn't your source.  LOL.

District management has ordered all local stores to increase their front end presence and have more registers available for longer hours.  If they're complaining, for $9 or $13/hr, they need to be finding new jobs - otherwise, shut up and enjoy the extra hours and enhanced paychecks.

Anecdotal evidence such as "it doesn't look as busy as it used to be" is worthless.  If a store is near or at the top of its district in sales, profitability, etc. than it is obviously doing well.  Clearly the people who are coming into the store - whether it is more or less than before - are spending enough money to keep the store at the top in terms of sales and profitability.

That has never happened while I have been there. I've never been anything but 5th or 6th in line, even recently.

Hannaford on the other hand, that place has been empty lately. It's eerie how dead that place can be on a Saturday morning. I fear that it is in its death spiral and don't look forward to having to find a new place to shop.

The whole Plaza is suffering....with the way all store theft has been it's no wonder....Wal-Mart draws all the undesirables......the RPD are there many times

in one day....safety is a cause also...

so far as business goes in Rotterdam??...I think it has had its day.....now customers are going to other areas.....and read this AM  ..

take Sonic for e.g.....going to Amsterdam and Troy.....that would make a day of shopping more interesting ....we don't have a Friendly's anymore

and that was a big draw .....so folks will go elsewhere......sad but true.

Parent - depending on your location in town the Hannaford in Guilderland on the corner of Rt 20 and 146 (Carman Rd) is very nice. The whole store is much cleaner and there has been no reports of people being approached in the parking lot for money/handouts. There is also the Niskayuna store on Balltown Rd.

The one in the Guilderland is probably where I'll go if  Rotterdam's closes.
It will cost me another 10 minutes both ways, but it's not a big deal.

we don't do walmart on a regular basis....but whenever we are in that area we might stop there....honestly....it is ALWAYS DEAD!
Hannaford at any location is better than ROTTENdams.
they do have the free range meat tho.
Shop Rite is good too.
Price chopper....haven't been in one of those in years.
however.....we do most of our shopping at BJs.
we NEVER buy food at walmart!!! NEVER!!
there is certainly a variety of places to shop!

You're only there "occasionally" - whenever you're in the area.  That really doesn't mean it's "ALWAYS DEAD" - that's your perception, based on your very infrequent, non regular visits.

Saying it's "ALWAYS DEAD" is just another one of your exaggerations and story fabrications - about as valid as "heard at the donut shop"
