Since we're smack dab in the middle of another construction season, and there's still nothing at all going on at the old Curry Road Shopping Center, I guess it's safe to say, we've been bamboozled yet again by a developer. I know people who when they heard senior apartments were part of the plan, signed up to be on a waiting list. Good luck with that.

I wonder that myself. I wasn't going to bring this up, but since code enforcement seems to be and issue I'll mention it. There is home in Rotterdam with overgrown (10-12') shrubs in the front yard covering the front of the home. There has been no power to the home in from what I understand 10 years. There are 2 notices on the front door describing the premises as unfit for human occupation. The paint has peeled from the siding, and the roof appears to be in disrepair. Mold and mildew grow on the outside, and one can only imagine what the interior looks like. Oh, and someone lives there. Heats with kerosene and gets water in gallon jugs.

The neighbors have complained to the town for some time now, yet nothing is done. So I echo your query. Where the hell is the code enforcer.

Code enforcement is and has been a joke in Rotterdam.

I live in a neighborhood that had an auto repair business running in a residential zoned area. Now, I could care less if he repaired a car or two at a time, but consistently, I would count 10 or more vehicles on the residential lot a one time. The owner of the business was a town employee and we had town vehicles on the property and a Police car visited at least a few times. Yet, he was allowed to operate unabated for close to 20 years..
It was only after he supposedly found a garage elsewhere in town with a lift, that he moved his business...

They need to add the word Selective to the Code Enforcement vehicles.

My understanding is that the holdup was Golub's not signing the papers transferring title to the parcels/properties that it owns on the site.  (The site is actually several parcels owned by different entities.)  It is also my understanding that Golub finally signed the papers in late spring.

Trustco has already been approved for the new bank building that it will be building closer to the road -- next to the house adjacent to the knitting company.

The developer proposing to build senior housing still needs to submit his proposal and get approval for the project.  He could not start the process until Golub signed the papers.  It is my understanding that the developer has every intention of starting the process to approve the project and to build the project if it is approved.

Golub, of course. The community-minded Golub. Anyway thanks for the info. Looks like it'll be another year before anything gets started. I just want to see something there other than decay. Same goes for the other site down the road.

The CVS project is working through the process.  It will take another few  months (IMHO - probably looking at Labor Day or shortly after for that to finish up)  to go through the zone change and site plan approval process.  If it gets final approval, my guess is that work would start soon thereafter.

You really need to get a clue.  It is easy for you to make UNINFORMED and COMPLETELY BASELESS accusations.  You are blaming the Town Board and accusing them of pocketing money(easy for you to make libelous accusations since you hide behind a username)  ----- but the facts are that
a) it was NEVER decided or promised that a roundabout was going to be built,
b) no money was ever appropriated by the state or anyone else for such a project,
c) roundabouts were just one of several RECOMMENDATIONS made after a study of the intersection,
d) it would be up to the State Department of Transportation to make the final decision and come up with the funds to pay for it.

so those poor ROTTENdamians have to look at that proposed cvs mess all summer long?
are you kidding me?
and the pathetic town board lets them get away with it?
what a joke?

as far as the roundabout.....yes it was just a typical nys money hungry brain fart.
it will never become a roundabout for public safety reasons.
