Original Mohawk Harbor plan:

New design for the Schenectady Rivers Casino

The developer says the new design reflects the look and feel of the Schenectady community.

Galesi must have redesigned the building in case the casino doesn't work out.  He designed the space so it is easier to lease to another tenant in the future.  The casino will end up being the SCCC Rivers campus in 10 years.

It looks like they threw any kind of style to the wayside in lieu of more parking spaces. It reminds of the back of Mohawk commons (Target, Bed Bath and Beyond) with a parking garage on the end. Hardly the look of a vegas or AC style destination

When they first put the intial picture out, I looked up the other casinos they owned, and sure enough they are cheap, plain, big box looking buildings. The new design is clearly cheaper than the old, looks like the first one was strictly done to sell the bid. It also appears that the state didn't put any language into their process preventing the "winners" from changing what they promised. Nice job NYS lol

A responsible, independent city gov't would ask the builders why the bait and switch on the Casino design?
But with the rubber stampers we have there now, forget it. Maybe McCheese will get the buffet restaurant named after him or something.

After seeing the new 're-design'....i'd betcha that the other areas that wanted a casino....are damn glad they didn't get it.

Yup...they wanted it to be more 'reflective' of Schenectady....CHEAP AND UGLY!!....SUCCESS!!!

Betcha there'll be even MORE downgrades!!!!

I think it looks more like Mohawk Commons.....the strip mall part where Target is.
It looks just like Big Box stores to me.
A TON of parking spaces/garage.

There are box stores right up the road.  The "working together works" crowd has always wanted to expand the SCCC campus.

Lol.

The only difference is the new casino dorms will have a parking garage.

I wonder if the new plans were based on the contamination.

They couldn't very well carve a huge harbor trench through the chemical wasteland.

So this is what a renaissance looks like.

Just a reminder, the original ALCO was where the Ramada Inn once stood, and now is dorms.

But I'm sure that ALCO land used organic biodegradable solvents, unlike the toxic cesspool beneath the casino site, one block away.
