...marriage is a religious ceremony not a state license.  The religious leaders should be just as pissed at state licensing of heterosexuals as being defined as marriage.  If somebody is truely religious, then they shouldn't really give two shits about who the government issues licenses to.

Actually, not entirely true, as there is no requirement for a "religious ceremony" for there to be a marriage:
Quoted Text
noun
1. (broadly) any of the diverse forms of interpersonal union established in various parts of the world to form a familial bond that is recognized legally, religiously, or socially, granting the participating partners mutual conjugal rights and responsibilities and including, for example, opposite-sex marriage, same-sex marriage, plural marriage, and arranged marriage:
Anthropologists say that some type of marriage has been found in every known human society since ancient times.
Quoted Text
Definition: A civil marriage is one where the marriage ceremony has a government or civil official perform the ceremony.

A civil marriage is a wedding that takes place without any religious affiliation and meets the legal requirements of the locale.

I never claimed that.  For religious people, marriage vows are between a man and woman, in front of their God, and witnessed by their friends and family.  There is nothing in the bible(or any other religious book) that I am aware of, that mentions state licensing as a validation of a marriage between two people.  My point is, why do religious people give two shits about state licensing of a same sex marriage?

License - a revocable permission to commit some act that would otherwise be unlawful

First you say marriage is a religious ceremony....
then I show you that isn't necessarily so...
then you say you never claimed it....
BUT YOU DID!

Let's at least try to be accurate Joey...I don't know if you misrepresent my posts in order to feel like you "got me", or if your reading comprehension is just that bad.  I never said a religious ceremony was a REQUIREMENT for there to be a marriage, you pulled that out of thin air.   So the only reason you believe my post is "not entirely true", is because in that crazy brain of yours, you somehow read the word 'requirement' in my post.

and why should they give two shits about abortion either?
those crazy Christians need to stay out of government affairs and/or how the government influences their lives.
they should just pray within the confines of the church walls and their homes and practice their crazy religion privately.
they are in America and they need to follow government laws despite their religious beliefs....just like all other religions.
they use the argument that 'God will judge the nations'.

Sissy...try this and maybe you can comprehend...(doubtful cuz you like to twist things your way)
YOU SAID: "marriage is a religious ceremony"...
I posted a cut-n-paste from a dictionary description that used "requirement"...
so reading comprehension/understanding (a challenge for you), is quite clear...
but let me try to break it down simply for you............
Marriage does not have to be a religious ceremony to be a marriage!
Didn't pull anything out of thin air....
Can you get your feeble brain around that....got it?  How about it????
I think YOU are the one that likes to play word games and change your intent and use your own
definitions instead of accepted understanding and definition and/or just say OOPS!!!!
you've shown that over and over.......
so again.....MARRAIGE DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A RELIGIOUS CEREMONY TO BE A MARRAIGE!! GOT IT????
Now let's see you pull whatever out of your a$$ to continue playing your game.

I 'think'...and I could be wrong here....cissy was saying that the crazy Christians shouldn't give two shits if the government marries or not....cause those crazy Christians just believe that the only recognized marriage is one performed and ordained by clergymen according to their bible...I think!
....so why do they care if the government will marry same sexes or not?
that's my take anyway....just sayin

I never said a marriage HAS TO BE A RELIGIOUS CEREMONY, I said it IS a religious ceremony and not a state license.    I know you are contextually challenged, so to help you out, I suggest you read the very first post, it is a decision tree mocking people that follow the BIBLE'S definition of marriage.

So in CONTEXT of the thread, I'll ask again...Why do Christians give two shits if the state issues a license to same sex couples?  Is it more important that a marriage is recognized by the state than recognized by their God?  If Christians were smart, clergymen would stop issuing marriage licenses on behalf of the state, and Christians would all together stop getting marriage licenses.

Don't need to read anything but your thread (because that is what I responded to)
that said "marriage IS a religious ceremony"...and I've shown you
repeatedly that it is not necessarily true...how many ways can marriage occur and
how many of tem are "religious ceremonies" versus not religious ceremonies?
You cannot possibly be that thick (then again........ )

Cissy always tries to define words to fit his agenda.

Dictionary.com

marriage:
noun
1. (broadly) any of the diverse forms of interpersonal union established in various parts of the world
to form a familial bond that is recognized legally, religiously, or socially, granting the participating
partners mutual conjugal rights and responsibilities

Wow...Are you even missing the context of the thread based off of YOUR first post?  The  whole post was in response to your decision-tree mocking Christians.  I'll say it AGAIN (in context to this thread bashing Christians) A MARRIAGE(for a Christian) IS A RELIGIOUS CEREMONY NOT A STATE LICENSE.  Why do Christians give two shits about the state licensing same sex couples?

Oh Cicero... You really should get over yourself!

The topic of the thread is SAME SEX MARRIAGE!
Noting in the thread subject "SAME SEX MARRIAGE" refers to Christians or the bible or any religion.
The topic IS SAME SEX MARRIAGE.
My first post contained "christian" and "bible", but so what.  My post only applied to that post, not
the entire thread. (But you already know that).
So if you really want to continue being a douche, go ahead.  Everyone else can post on the actual
topic.

But so what?  That's the f**king context to my post douche.  I responded to the first post on the thread.

So why doesn't anybody answer the friggin question?  Why do Christians give two shits about who the state licenses?  A Christian marriage is a RELIGOUS CEREMONY, NOT A STATE ISSUED LICENSE.  If the state issues state licenses for same sex couples, and Christians do not believe that lines up with their religious beliefs, THEN DON'T ASK FOR A MARRIAGE LICENSE FROM THE STATE.  If MILLIONS of Christians stopped paying for marriage licenses because it doesn't fit their religious beliefs, Christians would starve state governments of millions of dollars in licensing fees collected by the state.  The money they don't pay the state can go directly to their church to perform the ceremony.  YOU WIN CHRISTIANS!
