I had friends over recently, they informed me that the intersection near my house was in horrible shape. I told them that pretty much the entire area was that bad, or worse.
They had the suggestion that we just let it go back to dirt roads. We might as well. A dirt road is preferable to a blown-up asphalt one, imo.

Nice idea!

Guess that means that after every rainstorm, you and your neighbors will be out there with your rakes and tractors regrading the roads.

Horse drawn carriages won't tear it up as much!

The roads tend to get hard over time. Yes, there will be ruts and puddles, but we have that now.
Buck, have you looked at some of these streets lately? They're like punchboards. I wouldn't seriously want dirt roads, but we have worse than dirt now,with expensive lame attempts at repairs every now and then, randomly.

Someone has drawn my attention to a block of Plum Street, I think it is between Howe School and Lexington. Yes, it is Lexington, where there's that house that couldn't sell for what they paid for it 20 years ago. Anyway, the surface of the road there is incredible. I will try to get someone to show me how to post the picture online.
Some of these streets look as if an elephant went walking in soft clay or something.
