Well what did you expect when HBO relies on the slowest writer in the world? HBO launched GoT in 2011, so it's not like Martin hasn't had time to at least finish book#6 (Still not done, btw).
HBO can only go so long before they hit that wall, then what? Delay the series for 2+ years while Martin pulls his head out of the 'hookers and blow' to write another 1000+ pages for final book #7?
