I'd like to see a chart that details the drop in population as it relates to the steady decline of employment at Alco and GE. Might be interesting also to see how that affected property taxes during the same time period.

The chart was drawn in 1924 by a person from a firm located in St. Louis, Mo. Presumably, the firm was contracted to perform some kind of study for the city back in the early 1920's. What was the study? What were its results and recommendations? Were any, all or none of the recommendations ever implemented? And -- most importantly -- How is the study and/or this chart relevant - today - 90 years later?
Also, I would say that in the early 1920's there was a mood in the United States and in Schenectady that everything was growing, improving and that everything was Excelsior (the state motto - "ever upward"). That could explain the seemingly unreasonable assumption that Schenectady's population would grow by such greats for years to come.

They clearly didn't plan on Generous Electric bailing out. They clearly didn't plan on the enormous rise in Greed and political/union manipulation.. They clearly didn't plan on an economic downturn.
