For perspective - after 9-11 I spent some of the winter working in Black hawk Colorado.  The elevation was about 8700 ft. the Colorado river was a stream behind the hotel; it snowed at least a few inches EVERY day/night;

The plows only plowed the highways. The side treats just got compacted down and then a plow ONCE A WEEK.

Sort of how Schenectady used to be 50 years ago.
But that was back when your property tax was 200 bucks a year.
The trash men went in your back yard and got your trashcans
but if it snowed YOU had to dig your way out

Van Vranken Avenue usually got plowed by the NEXT DAY

Can you believe it people could actually drive on snow 6 inches deep back then ?

obesity and disease ARE rampant in America......

the problem is the 'I pay for this'......the leaders listen to 'the people' and do their bidding so that the people feel 'rich' as if they
can direct servants to do their bidding like the rich....if the people feel rich then they won't feel bad because they are not...as long as
the government is their bed buddy, they too can pretend to be Mr. Gates and friends.

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

I grew up in a Rotterdam development off of Guilderland ave in the 70's...I remember our streets being snow covered for WEEKS during the winter.
All the crews used was lots of sand....and guess what?  we got along fine. I could ride my snowmobile down the street to get to the trail head until the street was bare... Like I said, in a good winter, that would mean my street was snow covered for most of it..

Agree.....but in order to extort more tax money....they have to 'commit' to a service....better than the previous.

but today we need ALL the roads plowed and pristine!

why?

cause mom AND dad have to go to work.
kids have to be dropped off at day care.
school buses have 'door to door' pick up these days.
how they gonna get to their favorite watering hole, market, mall....OMG!!
...and of course...how are the fire trucks and ambulances going to trudge thru the snow?

folks want SERVICES from the government....well now they can pay for it!!!!!

in defense of the roads yesterday....I honestly don't think ANY of them could have kept up with the rapid snow fall. IMHO

I agree with this statement - I went to work yesterday in Albany and the Thruway plows couldn't even keep up...
