Almost a dozen of them the city must reduce assessments again.

So HOW is the so called "investment" in downtown helping the city?   How is the city improving when the courts are finding in favor of the commercial property owners when this mayor and his dem council refuse to do a reassessment.

Successful tax certiorari lawsuits, something bigger property owners can pay for attorneys are causing the homeowners to pay higher tax bills.

More EVIDENCE of the failure of the city, more MASSIVE reductions the city's tax base.

But, you know, "the city is improving," "the mayor and his team are doing a wonderful job," and Metroplex is paying "tremendous dividends" to the city.   It's interesting how those who make such statements perfect their disappearing act and will not provide a list of even one so called dividend that the homeowners have gained, and how people who do not pay taxes in the city come to the rescue of the chickens who tell these lies.

Is there a list of these that is out there, addresses and before and after assessment amounts?

Of course there is.   Of course, but we all know that this mayor wants to keep things a big secret from the taxpayers so he is not going to make it easy.

It only takes some 1st grade level reading.   Anyone who can read can go read the city council committee agenda's and then view the annual assessment rolls.

This mayor is so extremely embarrassed about how he and his predecessor have ruined this city and caused the massive reduction in the tax base, that the details are not included in detail in committee agendas that are posted.  There were a few that did have the back-up included.

Just go to the current assessment roll and then the new tentative one will be out in three months, then it's 1st grade reading and math.

Yes.  It is top secret.

Yes.  It is top secret.

Actually one thing I didn't mention is that probably all of these certorari's go back several years on taxes.  In other words, one cannot look at the 2014 assessment roll and compare it with the coming 2015 roll.  The reductions granted may be retroactive to previous years, these certorari's are approved retroactive to the year the property owner went to board of assessment to sit in front of those cronies of the mayor.  So the city must refund several years of overpaid taxes.  And why are they retroactive?   Because the mayor has refused to do any reassessments despite massively falling property values.  It would be so terribly extremely embarrassing for him to do a reassessment and have situations where maybe a house has an assessment value of $100,000 and pays $6,000 in taxes and fees, while outside the city taxes on a $150,000 house would be $6,000.   A reassessment would perhaps cause an assessment value (at full value) to be $60,000 and the total taxes will be that $6,000, i.e., taxes in the city would be the same as a house in a neighboring location when the house is two or three times the value of the house in the city.

They cant do a reassessment because of the negative affects of the NYS Constitutional Municipal Debt Limits.  They bloated the assessments the last reassessment so they weren't capped at the max.  If they reassessed, Moody's would see that they are capped and then they would downgrade us.  There are massive flaws/gaps in the laws that have a cause and effect that is undesirable.  Becareful what you wish for mikechristine1.

The one area where I think the city messed up is they still have a lot of places that are under assessed.

Take this 3 unit at Gillespie that just sold for $329,000.  It was re assessed the last round at    $123,300.  Only about 2/3 less than the actual value!!!!

Not surprised that there will be an occasional house that sells like that.   Interesting that a hysterical preservationist opted to sell, but then, realize that it was purchased by an LLC which is part of a company called Incorp Services Inc (and what that company does).  Oh, a tangled web.  Will be interesting to find out of this will be certified as an arms length sale. It's always nice for a residential neighborhood to have properties owned by big business via an LLC.  Lots of tax loopholes and political donation loopholes for LLC's
