In another post I explained how awful my Dad with dementia was treated at the Rotterdam Town Hall.
I made an appt for him and we went to the Schenectady Veterans Agency and the man there was SOOO nice and understanding, spent over an hour with my Dad.
It was something listening to my Dad remember EVERYTHING about his military service in the past, but he forgets everything current : (

My Dad left the appointment with his head held high because he was listened to and respected and I was so glad to see him like that.

Happy to hear that.

It is very common for the elderly with dementia, or have had a stroke, etc. to lose that short term memory but long term memory becomes amazingly sharper.  I have an uncle who was like that and it was a blessing in disguise of sorts because he provided us with so much information on family history.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
