By the way, I was never told that I "must" conform to the recommendations, and when I hired I did
so using my own criteria, regardless of any recommendations...that was my right and I chose to do it that way.
It also means that the most qualified was not necessarily the best fit for the open position.

(PS - notice I didn't say "contributing" member of society...that would be impossible.)

But it is your company's policy that it is ok to use ethnic background as a factor in determining who you hire?  If all things are equal, you can choose an Asian over a Middle Eastern, based on their ethnicity?  Who do you work for?  I find this facininating!
